It's been months. I've lost count of how many but I know it's Christmas today and I never would have thought I'd spend Christmas like this. Belinda thought to herself as she made herself a cup of coffee. She set up a Christmas tree and even got gifts. She knew William wouldn't be here but it made her feel normal, like nothing had changed.
She sat on the sofa softly singing to the songs that came from her phone on the deck. Then she heard the song she had been listening on repeat for the past couple of days and couldn't help but full on singing along to it even if there were bound to be tears.
What if I don't want to be the lonely one?
The truth I know is this
I don't want to miss you more
than I already do
I'm screaming
my lungs out
'cause I'm wishing
you were with me now
I'm impatient I apologize many times
but I'm human
and I'm selfish
got the feeling
I should deal with this
but I'm hiding
no one knows
they don't
The song went on and when it ended she wiped away the tears. The situation he's singing about is different from hers but it describes her pain in a certain way.
Time passed on and she was falling asleep on the couch until she heard something that sounded like steps coming from the kitchen.
She got up quickly and quietly made her way to the kitchen.
Then she saw him. In all of his messed up glory.
"WILLIAM?!" she shrieked and ran over to tackle him.
"I'm home, baby. I'm home" He mumbled into her neck as he buried his face into it.
"I thought you were dead!" She said between sobs. He just hugged her tighter
"What happened?" She asked him. She was still hugging him and wasn't planning on letting go any time soon. She thought that if she did he'd disappear and she would wake up and this would all be a dream. It didn't bother him though because he felt the same way.
"I don't know, they got us out yesterday and I just got here like half an hour ago."he mumbled
" You must be tired" She told him
"You too. Have you been crying?" He asked her with concerns in his voice as he studied her face
"Yeah but it doesn't matter anymore because you're home and you're never leaving again, right?"Belinda asked him hoping he would agree and never leave again
" Yes, No more leaving... Hey, is that my jacket?" He asked
"Yeah" She answered and hugged him again
"I've missed you too, baby girl" He whispered in her ear.
"I love you" William said and he kissed her.
"I love you too" Belinda whispered when they separated
"Let's go to sleep" Said Will and with that they made their way to their bedroom an William went to take a shower. After he was finished they went to sleep.
A couple of hours later
Belinda woke up from a nightmare. She needed Will. She needed to know he was fine and that it was all a dream.
"William?" She whispered as she felt around, looking for him. She didn't find him.
Belinda freaked out, got out of bed and ran downstairs.
"Hey, hey what's wrong?" Asked William when she crashed into him.
"I thought you were gone again" she told him while crying
"No, baby. Look I just came downstairs to put my gifts under the Christmas tree. See?" He cooed motioning to the Christmas tree
"Don't do that again" Belinda said while burying her face on Will's chest.
"Okay, okay. Come on let's go to bed" he told her while playing with her hair, trying to calm her down.
They went to bed for the second time and fell asleep cuddling each other. This time no nightmares ruined their sleep.
