I took a bath and prepared myself to see Phoenix. I wore a long black t-shirt and short black jeans as I tied my hair up into a bun. I looked at myself in the mirror as I chuckled,
"Pretty good for Phoenix Burns"
I took my car key and left home. I drove myself to Hilton to pick Phoenix up. But the thought of Nathan popped up in my mind as I drove away.
I almost forgot about Nathan, I forgot that I had a boyfriend out there!
I had messaged him but he hadn't replied.
I arrived at Hilton and pulled the car over the lobby. I saw Phoenix leaning his back on the pillar near the rungs of the entrance to the lobby. I honked twice then he walked approaching the car as he beamed at me. He wore a red polo t-shirt and half-knee blue jeans. He bowed his head to the car window and said,
"Oh, Look! My drive has arrived," he chuckled as he reached the handle of the car door.
"Just get in quickly," I laughed as I rolled my eyes over him.
He got in to the car and sat on the passenger seat as he turned his head at me.
"How long did you wait?" I queried as I beamed at him.
"Umm, 3 hours?" teased Phoenix as he smirked. "Oh, 5 hours!"
"I never thought you would be that excited to see me until you stood by the lobby for 5 hours," I laughed as I bit my lower lip and pulled the steering wheel to the right. "Thank you".
"Dang! You got me," he chuckled.
"I know right?!" I punched his shoulder playfully.
"Hah.. Where are we going?"
"I don't know. What place are you craving for?"
"You're funny. You live here, this town is basically in the palm of your hand. I know nothing," he argued as he chuckled. "I'm just a tourist"
"A tourist that is now being kidnapped by a stranger he met online," I laughed as I squeezed my forehead. "Wanna visit each place of this town all at once?"
"What's that mean?" Phoenix asked curiously. "We only have like a day. You're crazy."
"We're going to the top of this town!"
We laughed a lot in the car. We listened to my favorite musics. We also made a silly video and did a lip-sync of Get Lucky by Daft Punk.
Since Daft Punk was his favorite
We were stuck on our way to our destination for about 2 hours since it was weekend and people were everywhere like ants running over the sugar insanely. Phoenix took over the car and let me have some rest. I fell asleep but I suddenly woke up when I felt somebody rubbed my right shoulder gently.
"Patricia? I don't know the way. The traffic is over, please lead the way," said Phoenix as he focused himself to the road.
I opened my eyes and rubbed it with the palm of my hands, "I'm sorry I fell asleep. Okay, let me drive."
"No, it's okay. I'll drive. You look tired. Just lead the way,"
I guided him the way. Pine trees were seen in every blocks the car went, the road wasn't really smooth, thus the car was a bit shaky. Afterwards, we eventually reached our destination. It was quiet there because nobody was there but us only.
The sunset was seen perfectly where I could feel its warmth as I enjoyed the view of the town from the top. I accidentally found that place when I was feeling lonely and didn't know where to go. We got out of the car and sat on the hood of the car side by side where our skin was a few inches away to each other.
"It's a beautiful place. How did you know about this place?" Phoenix queried as he looked enchanted with the view.
I could see him was being amazed by the view from his sparkling blue eyes.
"I found this place when I had no idea where to go. I was just trying to find a quiet place to take all my problems away, to take all my burdens away," I explained as I smiled.
"What problems? Those must be tough until you had to get away," He asked curiously.
"Many. About school, family, friendships and...." I stuttered.
"And?" he frowned as he stared at me.
"And you." I sighed heavily
"I am one of your problems?" He looked surprised.
"You were one of those," I shrugged and continued. "But not anymore because you're here. I'm happy that you're here," I smiled as I pressed both of my lips nervously.
"I'm sorry if I was once your sorrow. I never meant to hurt you," Phoenix sighed. "But I am clueless. If only I knew,"
"I thought you knew but you just couldn't show. But the fact is, you are clueless. I'm sorry, it's not you and it's just me," I shook my head as I played with my thumb. "I was drown in what you said about 'we have many things in common but we're different'. From that statement, I thought you knew me pretty well."
"I used to know you very well. I'm getting clueless because I can't get to know you as much as I want to. There's already someone else," He stood up and explained with high tone. "That's why I took a step back. I don't want to complicate your relationship."
I remained silent as I closed my eyes and tried not to cry. I sighed heavily as I pushed my brain to think about the proper answer had to be. But I was running out of words and Phoenix continued,
"You seem like you're head over heels in love with him. Because he could put a smile on your face, a smile that I couldn't even make. I wanna see you happy. I think you're so happy when you're with him. Your conversations with him on twitter and instagram are killing me inside. That's why I don't wanna show up in your life anymore," he explained firmly and quick in high tone
I never thought he would say that to me. I was surprised of what I just heard. I wanted to cry but I tried to hold my tears because I didn't want him to see me crying like a baby. It was my turn to explain everything to him.
"Don't get it wrong Phoenix. Look, you don't know what I've been feeling to you all this time. If you ever heard what love at first sight is, I bet you will understand because that's what I felt in the first place. I like you. But you never know because I never told you. You have no idea how tired I was to stay up at night just waiting for your status on skype to be online but you never appeared! I kept waiting for you but I was completely madly tired then he came to me, mended my broken pieces and-" I stuttered as I slowly stopped because tears streamed down on my face since it was really complicated to explain.
I covered my face with the palm of my right hand and I felt there was something warm on my back. He rubbed it gently as his hand led to my shoulder and he pulled me over his hug. I put my head on his chest, his smell was really good. He put his head on my head as I could feel then both of his hands were intertwined as I was trapped inside his lovely warm hug.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," he stroke my hair then kissed my hair. "If only I knew it earlier, I could've loved you better in the first place."
"It's so complicated, Phoenix. I just don't know what to do," I sobbed as I let the tears streaming down faster until his polo was wet because of the tears. "I'm sorry for dragging you into my indecisiveness. It's all my fault,"
He slowly pushed me away from his hug. He put both of his hands on my shoulders with his blue eyes stared at mine. The atmosphere was really hot as my face turned into tomato. An ugly tomato.
He stared at my eyes as he made a circle on both of my shoulders with his thumbs. He took a deep breath and he asked, "Do you love Nathan?"
