Chapter 5: Terrence

“Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to join Angela Stevenson and Terrence Alexander in holy matrimony.” Angela stood in front of me with misty eyes. She looked beautiful in her dress. I looked on the side of her and Yani stood her with her flower dress on. This was perfect; everything was just perfect. “I love you.” Angela whispered. “I love you too baby.” I even got a lil choked up. My heart was pounding hard and fast but in a good way. “Terrence Alexander, do you take Angela Stevenson as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?” The pastor asked. I looked at Angela with love and compassion in my eyes. “I do.”

“Angela Stevenson, do you take Terrence Alexander as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?”

“I-I”

The hard knocking coming from my front door interrupted another memory that will never happen. Yani laid on the side of me sleeping soundly. I looked at the clock of the nightstand and it read 4:30. Who the fuck is at my door at four in the morning? I got out of the bed carefully so I wouldn’t wake Yani and went downstairs. I looked through the peephole and saw it was Tyrone; he looked a mess. I opened the door. “Lizbeth kicked you out?” I asked jokily. Tyrone just looked at me and went inside. I closed the door. “Ty? What’s going on man?” Tyrone looked stressed and tired. He sat on the sofa in the living and I sat across from him on the love seat. “This shit is all fucked up.” Tyrone mumbled. “What are you talking about?” I asked worried. “This shit! All of it! King dying! When he died, it seemed like everything just stopped. Jay stopped coming around, and you left me to handle this shit by myself! I’m the one person still trying to run things accordingly. Now Lizbeth jumping down my throat about me abandoning Cameron and I’m not trying to, but it’s hard! Everything is just fucked up!” Tyrone placed his head in his hands; he was falling apart. “Just let it go Tyrone. Let the business go. You and I both have enough money to sustain us for life. Stop stressing yourself out. Go home and spend time with your family. You have a fiancée at home worried about you. Just go home.” I really felt bad for my brother; I didn’t realize what he was going through. I thought he was straight after King’s funeral. “Can I sleep here tonight? I’m really fucked up right now.” Tyrone chuckled at his lil joke. I cracked a smile, “You already know you can.”
