Now with two dead men, I pondered how many more of these guys there could be. I peek my head out of the door. I look back at this young white guy regretting my actions. I stride over to his now dead body before also searching him quickly. I take another gun from him and a key which is probably useless but who knows.
Peeking my head out of the door again, I observe that the corridor runs both ways. The corridor is at least five metres each way to another corner and I am in the only room in the corridor. If anyone comes around either corner it'll be the end of me.
I choose right cause it's the right way to go. Slowly watching both directions cautiously, I run, my back against the wall and make it to the corner. Looking around, it looks identical. No one is in that corridor either. I turn around and make my way to the other corner. I shuffle very slowly. I ready the gun in my right hand and firmly grip the knife in my left.
I scan around the left side corner and this way looks more promising. I glance back behind me and see nothing so I continue to find a way out. I do my same awkward shuffle along the wall to find another room. There is a new door. This one is a fading red colour. I press my ear gently to the door to hear nothing. A dim light hangs from the ceiling swinging in the breeze that has taken hold. The breeze has to come from outside. I take a large step past the red door and follow the breeze.
Steadily I resume the awkward shuffle along this corridor. It appears longer than the other one I could have chosen. I hear voices, shrieks of laughter and a muffled static voice which I presume could be a TV or something else like that.
I can hear at least 3 voices. I take the switch blade and hold it up on an angle in front of me hoping that it is shiny enough to reflect the outlines of the men. It works well. There are five of them. No matter how hard I try I do not think I will be able to kill of them and there could even be more so shooting all of these guys would be a dumb idea as others could be alerted.
I decide to turn around and try the other corridor again. If there are any other guys the only place I know they could be (so far) is in the room with the faded red door. I creep back to the along the corridors and see something I didn't before. The young guy I just killed was wearing a watch. I ran back in a removed it from his wrist and looked at the time. 7:51. At this time of the year you can't tell if it's morning or night although I presume it is morning. Daylight saving keeps it light for 2 hours more than normal. I stuff the watch in my pocket and continue on.
Checking the corridors again I creep out and try the other side. It's still quiet, no one around. This doesn't mean I let my guard down though. The right side obviously wasn't the right way to go but neither was the left really. This side is darker and colder than the other however it is quieter.
Down this side there are two doors that both look like my door. Grey, metallic with rusted paint flecks in a range if colours. I press my ear to the first door and hear nothing. The second room is silent too. I decide not to enter either of these in case there are people in there.
It's sort of hard to make out but a pale green light hangs from the ceiling with the letter vaguely spelling out "EXIT". I had my doubts for a second. This was way too good to be true. I stood just staring at it frowning and refocusing my eyes wondering if the letters speed another word and I was just hallucinating.
While I'm staring aimlessly, I hear the voices of the men growing closer and closer. I decided last minute to just open the door but not run out but instead hide and locking them all out. I ran down the rest of the corridor, pressing down hard on the release bar opening the doors wide. I run back to the closest grey door slowly open it to find a room that looks just like mine but with a bright light above the door. I close the door very quietly and stand next the frame. I hear shouts and gunshots echoing through the corridors followed by a hurry of footsteps.
"Fuckin run you pricks. Just find her. Don't you dare come back without her". Nico was yelling commands at his crew as they bolted out the door looking for me.
I think he went into the room next to me. I heard him fiddling around with things before swearing like a sailor for a prolonged amount of time. Everything went quiet and I heard another set of footsteps that I believed to be Nico.
Once I could hear nothing more, I gradually opened the door bit by bit until I could stick my head out. No one was around. I opened it a bit more and slipped out. I checked the corridor once more and softly closed the exit doors. I turned around to see Nico standing at the end of the corridor.
"Oh darling. You are fucked."
He growled. I aim the pistol at Nico. He doesn't have his gun on him.
"You are going to shoot an unarmed man? Really? That is something only a coward would do."
He almost looks disappointed at me.This doesn't distract me. He has hurt me, taken Yvan and killed his own men. He's a coward too. I line up the sights from what I remember on YouTube. He starts to saunter toward me. I don't hesitate. I pull the trigger.
The bullet hits him square in the middle of his chest and he dropped to the ground. Keeping the gun trained on him, I side step unhurriedly toward him. He is taking his final breaths but manages to chuckle. "Hahaha. You... you shot me... hahahah". He breaths very shallow breaths. "Yeah. I did. A dumb blonde shot you." I chuckled too.
