Chapter 1

"Jessie, Jessie, wake up!" I hear my mum call. She's so annoying, just let me sleep! I know she's right I do need to get up, I'm working today.

"Fine," I reply an annoyed tone in my voice, I really can't be bothered to get up, but I know as soon as I'm with the horses I'll be fine! I slowly scramble out of bed and slap some make up on my face, double and triple checking my eyes are even, I hate it when they are wonky! I throw my hair into a messy bun and put my ear warmers round my head. I sigh heavily because I know I'm know going to have to run round the house to try and find a pair of johdpurs!

I change the number of days on my countdown to The X Factor Tour and One Direction, (63 and 144 days) then look up at my beautiful posters of both One Direction and Union J. I sigh deeply to myself hoping that one day I will meet them. I want that day to be now. Right now.

I finished getting ready and clambered into the car clasping my well-packed lunch tightly by the handles. It's going to be cold today. I feel the wheels of the car start rolling underneath me and I start to relax into my seat, for the 10 minute journey. My eyelids hang heavy, still not wide awake, my head starts to fall, my eyes start to shut. I'm awaken by my Dad's heavy laugh.

"Tired already?" he asks with a slightly sarcastic look on his face, "You haven't even started yet!"

I give an unenthusiastic giggle, punching him slightly in the upper arm. We pull onto the drive too familiar for me to miss. The car pulls to a halt, falling out of it i go to the boot to put my muckers on. Dad's already gone to the yard to see who's here, even though it's the same people every week! I pick up my bags and follow him seeing Lola in the coffee shop. "Hey Lo," I call greeting her the same as every morning. She makes sure the lessons are booked in for every week and everyone knows who they are riding. She also takes the money from clients to put in the safe.

"Hey Jess," she calls in return in the same cheery voice anyone would recognize.

I wander through the big red doors and to the tack room, put my bags down and look at the lesson board. Not too busy today.

"You alright Jess?" a familiar voice calls from behind me. I turn on my heel to see Layla stood behind me. Layla is a member of senior staff to keep all us helpers in order.

"Alright, you?" I reply to her previous question.

"Yeah thanks, shouldn't be too hard on you today. people are cancelling already." she goes on to explain how the weather forecast is snow, and i should not be tacking up horses too long before their lessons .

I start by tacking up, which should take me a while.
