Nothing unusual, mama out there with one of her many men again. I don't say anything because I never will disrespect my mama, she does all she can to provide for me and my little sister Leah. My mom had me when she was just sixteen years old, she was young and raised me on her own so she turned to drugs. She had this crack fiend boyfriend who hooked her onto it, he got her pregnant with my little sister Leah and then left. She was back at square one.We would always get into a fight with each other because I would ask her to not bring home a man while my friends was here at the house but instead of agreeing she said "this is my house and I bring who ever I want up in here". Every since then I haven't said anything else about it. I'm not one to complain but I'm not happy. I'm only sixteen and I've been working to help my mom out with some bills.
Leah look up to me as a mother figure cause my mom goes out late at night and don't return until 10 a.m in the morning sometimes she don't come home at all until about a week after. So I'm always the here to pick up where she's lacking at and take care of my baby sister. I feel as though if I leave then she's leaving with me, I would never leave her here alone with my mom and her lifestyle.
Sometimes I barely even go to school, we've had social service come and threaten to take my mom to court but she don't care because her mind is too filled up with the white substance that she snort up all day, everyday. She needs help and as bad as I want to help her, I know that there's no way that I can. I don't have any power over a grown woman, she has to make the decision to change on her own.
"Come on Leah we have to get you to daycare, I have to get to work" I said as I started to get her dressed in a pink dress with flowers designed in it. I bought it because all of her other clothes were to small. She's really big for a three year old. I buy her 4T clothing but my mom thinks she still wear 2T. So basically I buy all of her clothes. She's like my own and I love her dearly.
Once I was done getting her all dress, which took about twenty five minutes, we were on our way out of the house and we were headed to the bus stop because I didn't have a car, the bus is my daily transportation. I've been saving up a little here and there to get us a car to get around in.
I placed my purse onto my shoulder securely because I was headed on the block where all the drugies and thieves stand around at all day.
"Aye shawty?" Rasheed yelled towards me as I tried to hurry and get to the bus stop before I miss the bus. I couldn't afford to be late to another day of work, I just couldn't afford it.
"I know ya ' hea me girl, don't do me like dat" he smirked as I passed by.
It wasn't that I was being stuck up, it was the point of me being safe. I knew all about Rasheed, the big time drug dealer. He was dangerous as hell, and I couldn't afford being involved with him, with all the responsibility I have with my sister. He's bad news.
Once I was directly in front of him he touched my arm. "DONT touch me" I snatched away. The frown on my face was evident.
He started to frown down on me. "Damn bitch you betta wattcha self'" he spat.
"No you better watch yourself" I said smartly as I tried to quickly walk away from him, all of his boys were staring at me like I had three heads sticking out. They were all probably shocked that I stood up to him like that, but I would never show someone that I'm afraid even when I am. Of course I was afraid of Rasheed.
"Come on Leah we gotta hurry" I said as I picked her up and placed her on my hip running the rest of the way to the bus stop.
