After this chapter I might decide to take a little break from writing on here...I don't have the passion that I've once had when I first started writing this book. It's just a thought, I don't quite know what I'm going to do yet. Plus this book doesn't get as much feedback anyway so I'm sure me not writing anymore wouldn't matter🤷🏽♀️Just saying.***
"Why do Kody cry so much? All night dats all you hear, it's so annoyin." Leah said as she leaned over the kitchen counter as she watched me cook breakfast.
It's been about a week since she has moved in with me and it's been difficult. Every night she has nightmares about my mother and her ex boyfriend. Most nights she comes and get in bed with me or she'll be in the kitchen eating food because she can't go back to sleep.
"He's a baby and that's what babies do, especially when they can't really express their self. Trust me you did the same thing." I smirked as I started to make our plates.
"How do you even remember way back den? Dat was like so long ago, I'm grown now you mindswell say" she said chuckling.
I shook my head laughing right along with her. "You are nowhere near grown girl, you have a long way to go and please don't rush it."
She shrugged. "I wish I was tho, so I could move away from hea. I'm tired of going through this mess Amir, I just wanna be happy".
On many occasions she told me that she wanted to move away, it's like she thinks she's not safe with anyone. I hate that she has to feel this way.
"Their not here to hurt you anymore, you got me and crybaby ass kody. I love you so much and I would die before I let them lay a hand on you again, you hear me?" I said walking around the counter to her.
She ran into my arms nodding her head as I felt wet stains forming on my night shirt.
"Amir I never wanna leave you, being here makes me feel like I'm actually home. You make me feel so welcome." She sniffed.
"You didn't feel that at your other home?" I asked looking down at her as she lifted her head to look up at me.
She shook her head no. "They were a little nice but I could still feel the difference between me and their real kids. I'm nine years old not two."
"Was they ever mean to you?" I asked.
"No only when they wanted me to clean up after them. I used to tell them no cause I wasn't their maid." She shrugged.
"So they wanted you to clean up after their grown asses?" I asked shaking my head in disbelief.
She nodded. "Everyday, it was so annoyin."
"You ain't nobodies maid so saying no was the right thing. But if cleaning something was your chore then that's what you were supposed to do."
"No they made me do everything. It wasn't fair!" She crossed her arms pouting.
I felt bad that she had to go through that but most likely in her future it'll make her wiser and make her want way better for herself.
"I'm sorry that you had to got through that, I truly am."
A knock at the door ended our moment. Once I went and opened the door, there stood Killa. Instead of saying hello, how you doing, he just walked his way inside.
