A knock on the door woke me up. Oh gosh, how could I forget. I scrambled out of bed and managed to yell a quick, "Hold on a sec!" I threw on my jogging clothes, brushed my teeth and put on deodorant, and threw my hair up in a ponytail all in record time. I opened the door to see a smiling Tom leaning on the door frame.
"You forgot, didn't you," he chuckled. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks.
"Maybe..." I looked at the ground to hide my embarrassment. He chuckled.
"Don't worry about it, I nearly did too." He's probably only trying to make me feel better, I thought to myself.
"Ready to start?" I asked, and when I looked at him, my heart skipped a beat. The way he looks at you could send you flying into space. His eyes were just so beautiful, his smile- Stop it Cassie. he's just a nice guy trying to be polite. Plus, he's an actor, he probably has a girlfriend.
"Ready," He replied.
We started down the road and jogged for awhile until we made it to a park, and i had to sit down for a few. Jet lag was a cruel thing. It was here at the park that he noticed my wrists.
"What happened?" He reached down and gently grabbed my wrist before i could pull it away. He examined it carefully, and I felt the warmth of his fingers brushing the scarred claw marks.
"Nothing," I lied. Truth is, when I was younger i formed a habbit of digging my nails into my wrist when I would get stressed. Heaven knows why I did it, but it got so bad I started doing it without noticing.
There was something in his eyes; a look that told me he knew I was lying, but he wasn't going to pry. "Okay.." he said with a curious tone. I suggested that we keep going, probably back towards the hotel now.
We kept jogging, and once we reached the block our hotel was on, I looked at him with a smile. "I bet I can beat you there."
"Oh it's on." he said. I counted down. 1.....2.....3.....Go! I totally beat him. He was breathing heavily by the time we got there, and he looked surprised.
"You sure know how to take away a man's breath," he said smiling. I smiled back and then thought about what he just said.
What was that again? Did he just... flirt with me? I stopped myself. No, he was just commenting on your speed and his lack of breath.
"I am such a fool," I accidentally said out loud. When I realized what I just said, I tried to cover it up. But he had already started speaking.
"For what?" he looked at me like I was a madman.
"I-I forgot to bring water. I would have offered it to you." Totally saved it. Did I?
"That doesn't make you a fool," he pointed out. I wanted to kick myself for not knowing what to say. I ended up just laughing and smiling like an idiot.
"Want to grab a coffee?" I ask, trying to change the subject.
"Just as long as you promise you won't end up wearing it again." He winked, and I nearly melted in my shoes.
AUTHOR: So sorry it's short! The next chapter will be longer, I promise. ;)
