I picked up Beth later from the airport after I'd gotten dressed and ready and all that jazz. She nearly tackled me when I saw her walking, no, RUNNING towards me. I braced myself and returned her excited hug.
"Well hello there!" I exclaimed, trying to regain full balance.
"I HAVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA," she pretty much shouted to the whole airport. I laughed almost just as loud.
After we had gotten her things together and started driving, I started to mention dinner but stopped myself when I realized I hadn't told her about Tom. Needles to say, she freaked out when she found out that I had been talking to a guy. A FAMOUS guy. AN EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE GUY.
"Won't I be a bit of a... third wheel?" she asked as we were getting out of the car at the hotel. I honestly hadn't really thought about it like that. I guess Tom and I might get awkward for her at times, but, at least I was thinking, that the main point of tonight's dinner would be to talk about Beth and helping me move.
"No, you'll be fine," I said with an unsurity in my voice. She shrugged and walked inside.
We got ready for the evening, and around 4 o' clock Tom texted me, "Driver will be there in an hour." My stomach was doing pro-gymnast flips when I read it. I finished getting ready and then picked up my room a bit before I left. Beth was sharing my room with me, so I had to clean around the stuff she had thrown everywhere. At almost exactly 5 o' clock, there was aknock on the door to our room.
I answered the door and a man in a fancy suit who looked like he had a face of stone and solitude said, "Car for the lovely Cassie and her friend Beth has arrived and is ready for transportation to the house of Mr. Hiddleston." His accent was very thick and he made no facial expressions as he talked, except keeping his stern, blank face.
"Thank you, we will be down momentarilly," I replied, unsure of how to talk to this man. He nodded and walked away with unbelievably good posture. I called for Beth to grab her purse and things and did the same myself.
We got down to the car and the stern-faced man was waiting to open the door for us. Beth got in first and after I had gotten in and the door was closed. she whispered in my ear, "Seem like Spock much?" I started giggling and stopped myself when the man got in the car.
The ride there was mostly silent, except for a few words of, "How do I look?" "Do I still look okay?" "Is there lipstick on my teeth?" We became completely silent when we noticed tht the car had stopped in front of large gates. the drive was punching numbers in on a keypad that opened the gates. I looked at Beth, who had as wide of eyes as me. We looked back at the gates that were slowly swinging open. We drove down a long path concealed by trees, and when the greenery opened up, we saw a large BEAUTIFUL house with a fountain out front and acres of yard surrounding it.
The car pulled aorund to the front door as Tom was stepping out. He wore nice yet casual clothes, and looked as handsome as ever in it. He opened my door, allowing me to step out, and ran around to the other side of the car to do the same for Beth. She gave me a look that said "wow" as she saw how gentlemanly he was.
I jumped slightly as I felt a hand touch my lower back, but as I turned I realized it was only Tom. He used his other hand to point towards the door, and led us inside. And oh, was it gorgeous.
There was a beautiful chandelier as we walked in, and to the left the dining room was set for three places. We all sat, and after some small talk and Tom asking Beth about herself, dinner was served. That's when things went downhill.
About 7:30, I checked my phone and saw that I had 7 missed calls and 3 voicemails. I excused myself to the restroom and checked the voicemails, and my heart nearly sank when I did. They were about my mom.
