ASHLEY'S (POV)
"Ashley come downstairs please" My mothers voice woke me and she was gone before I even had both eyes open, it usually bothers me when my mom walks in my room without knocking, but today felt different. She didn't linger in the door way to make sure I heard her, or start looking around my messy room with that disapproving look on her face, she just told me to come downstairs and walked away...strange.
I decided too just throw on some sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt a made my way down the stairs. My mom and dad were both sitting at the kitchen table waiting for me. I was starting to get a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Okay who died was it grandma? weird uncle Jim? oh was it that cousin from Montana that was on meth last time we saw them?!" I was just trying to get the source and figure out what the elephant in the room was.
"Ashley no one died, just please sit down" my mom looked sad and not amused by my guesses.
"Okay.... so whats up?" something told me that i didn't want to hear what was coming, and I was right.
my dad stood up and started pacing the kitchen after a few minutes he stopped and looked at me.
"Listen Ashley, you know your mother and I love you very much, and you mean the world to both of us. But we have decided its best if your mother and I get a divorce. I will be staying in this house, and you're mother and you will be moving to a nice house your mother picked out in Worthington."
I was in shock, I really didn't see this coming, I never saw my parents fight or argue, well come to think of it I never really saw them together lately. They were both staring at me waiting for my reaction and to be honest I didn't know what to say.
"Okay and I dont get a choice who I live with?" I knew from the look in my moms eyes those words hurt her a little, but at this point all I cared about was my school and the soccer team. I didn't want to leave that.
my dad looked at me and sternly said "No Ashley you don't." with that, I got up and went back to my room, without another word.
