ASHLEY'S (POV)
The drive to our new house was the longest, most awkward six hours of silence I have ever been through. The whole way to our new life, I kept sneaking side glances at my mom as she drove, but every look was the same, she had her eyes pasted on the road ahead with a fake smile on her face. When we finally arrived at the house I was a little shocked at how nice the house looked. The house was a cute little white and blue, two stories, with the white picket fence around a little garden, only problem was it wasn't my home.
"The house looks great mom." I tried to convince both of us. She smiled at me as she started grabbing boxes out of the car, I did the same. eventually we had everything inside.
"So whats for dinner mom?"
" well we don't have any food in the house yet so we can go out tonight what sounds good to you? sushi, fast food, burgers?" she talked in a mono tone voice which was starting to worry me a little bit, I missed my cheery go happy mom.
"Lets do Burgers." I was starving so I decided on the easiest option. we grabbed the keys were off.
"Know of any good burger joints in town yet?" My mom surprised me by actually smiling.
"Yeah actually the last time I came down here looking at the house the guy showing me the house took me to this place called "The Shack" it was great."
"To The Shack we go" I need to make sure my mom knows I didn't have a problem living with her over my dad, I was only upset with leaving my town, my friends, my team, she wasn't the problem which is something she should know.
"Mom by the way you know I'm really happy i'll be living with you right? I was only upset with having to move towns, not over the fact it was with you over dad." I gave her my best smile and winked at her to to make her laugh.
"Oh honey I know that, Im just still getting over the fact it's really over between your father and I, it's going to be hard starting a new life after fifteen years of marriage with your best friend." I swear she almost wanted to cry but held it in.
"I love you mom." she is the strongest woman I knew. it was about a ten minute drive to "The Shack" when we got out of the car and walked in, the first thing I noticed was it was a really bust place, which must mean it was a good place to eat right? But just before I got too excited for the coming food, I noticed the only table available was right next to a big group of teenagers my age.
my mom grabbed my hand and dragged me to the table she sat her purse down and turned to me.
"Let me guess you just want a piece of meat and cheese on a bun right" she laughs as she walks towards the line. yeah she knew I hated everything that usually goes on a burger. I was about to take my phone out and scroll through instagram or something when I felt someones eyes on me. When I looked up it was more then some eyes every person in the booth was staring at me. I started to feel really uncomfortable, especially considering I could here their conversation.
"Who is that?"
"Have any of you guys seen her before?
"I Don't know what she's hot, I'd totally tap that"
The last comment made me slide down further in the booth, my face turning red.
There were three guys who had on jerseys so most played football, then the four girls they were with were all stunning, with perfect hair and just looked great. I really hope this town isn't full of pricks like my last school.
My mom came back with a tray of food as she went to sit down I heard of the voices from the table again.
"Well damn I'd totally sleep with her mom too, look at the ass on her." I was about to get up and say something to tool, but my mother beat me to it.
"Have some manners young man." well this should be a great start to a new town.
"Mom just ignore it and eat, I'm starving, and hey you're a hot single lady now get used to the comments." I tried joking with her but it didn't work.
"Not when the comments are from immature teens Ashley." she just shook her head and proceeded eating. I took a bite of my burger and took one more glance at the table, and this time only oner pair of eyes were still looking my way. She gave me a shy smile before turning her head to the girl next to her.
All I could think was, damn she was really beautiful.
