Molly's eyes widened at my announcement but she still scratched at my arm. "Yo-you can can save him." She gasped out making me drop her to the ground immediately. My eyes zoned in on her and I knelt down to her height as she started weeping and coughing.
"Elaborate." I demanded sending chills of disconfort through anyone wishing my proximity.
She looked up with a small glimmer of hope in her eyes. "I've read about it before Savan- Savage." She corrected when I looked at her pointedly. "You can do it."
I face palmed letting out an exhausted breath. "How." I whispered. My strength suddenly vanishing at the mention of my mate.
She started tearing up and shook her head. "I don't know." She cried into her hands while I awkwardly patted her back. My eyesight landed on Asher's lifeless body and I rushed over to him.
He had shifted back into his human form once he died and my body shook violently letting me know that tears would soon follow. I leaned over the man I love- loved and cried into his chest. I cried for what felt like days. My pain seeping out letting the world know that I was now hollow.
I was somewhere between emotional and emotionless.
I felt everyone's presence around me leave in silence. No one wanting to confront the crazy lady who just lost her mate.
"I just wanted a life with you Asher." My voice was croaky and I could barely manage a sentence. "You were so perfect. What every girl dreams of having. Maybe I just wasn't meant for you. Maybe you were meant for another. Gosh why did I just stand there and beg for your life. How pathetic could I be? I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough.
I'm sorry that I couldnt fight for you when you needed me the most. I'm sorry I wasn't what you expected.... I guess I should explain some things. Dominic. He was my first love. You're own brother if it weren't cliche enough. He had me wrapped around his finger but it wasn't always like that.
Back at the dungeon where I grew up, girls were tortured everyday. I would do my best to save them but I always got punished in the end. They never Kaye's a hand on me sexually though which I never understood until Dominic came along.
It was hard. That life is a very difficult one. Getting away was just so fulfilling that I never thought about going back. I never wanted to. Even if it was to save the she-wolves. I know, I'm a coward. I'm everything that you aren't.
Which is why I need you Asher. I can't do this by myself. I'm weak and defenseless. My priorities are all fûcked up. Just come back." I cried out sniffing near his neck trying to get a few last breaths of his scent. "Please" I begged.
My hand was above his chest and I payed my head on his chest for a bit until my mind was totally fuzzy. All coherent thoughts left me when I sat up and made my hand turn to claws. I pushed into his chest and snatched ahold of his still warm heart and began to squeeze it.
My head reached down kissing his lips then I breathed into his mouth. My mind acting on its own accord. "I love you" I choked out realizing it wasn't working and pulled my hand away from his body. I looked down at him knowing how useless I was.
I wasn't meant to have this power. How could the moon goddess bless this on me when I've done nothing good with it. Any other girl would have turned back around and saved the rest. Any other girl would have saved her mate no matter what. Any other girl would know what to do in these situations. And any other girl would have told her mate she loved him upon setting eyes on each other.
My inner rant stopped then. A huge form of fire emerged from working me and I felt my body heating up rapidly. Everything was spinning and my scream was the only thing I heard. I bent over on the grass in pain clutching my stomach and head. Then suddenly, it all stopped. And I fell down catching my breath Until my ears perked slightly at the sound of a heartbeat.
Asher jolted up breathing in the sweet air of oxygen and mouth opened in shock. The first thing I did however was my hand over his heart so it wouldn't fall right out with his rough movements.
He looked down at my hand curiously and looked up to me. His hand met my cheek and I leaned into it purring slightly, a smile permanently edged on my face. "I love you"
His words caught me off guard as I started up at him. "You are by far the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on." He continued. My eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. He's bleeding out and just woke up from death yet he's complimenting me.
"But next time sweetheart, don't bargain your life for mine." He leaned closer and whispered, "You may just have to get punished for bargaining what's mine." I hugged out air of disbelief as I pushed him back playfully. His chest already almost healed over his heart and neck.
"Kidding!" He smiled playfully and wrapped his arms around me putting me in his lap.
I leaned back and looked up into his eyes. "I love you Asher."
