"Valentina?" I call out again.

I walk into the living room and see her sitting on the couch but with one of my best friends, Carter. I look at their hands and see that their fingers interlocked.

"Is everything okay, Valentina? Did one of your family members die?" I ask as I sit in the armchair because I knew her Aunt was in the hospital with a serious lung problem.

"We need to talk Xavier." She says.

"What about?" I was starting to get the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

"I'm pregnant Xavier." Valentina announces.

"That's great news! I'm so excited! I'm going to be a dad!" I exclaim with a large smile on my face.

"It's Carter's." She cuts into my celebration.

"What? Did you just say it's Carter's baby?" I ask as I look at her dumbfounded.

"Yes, I'm leaving you Xavier and I'm going with Carter."
