I look behind me and at Caroline. "So, got anything to drink in that icebox?"
She looks at me, taken back. "Uh-um. No.. That's supposed to be getting rid of. I never use it anymore."
I look at her. I can't hold my secret in any longer. "Care...can I tell you something that I don't usually tell people?"
Her eyebrows furrow. "Yeah. I mean, of course. Anything."
"I know what's really in that cooler. And I know what you are. I am one too. It's easy to tell with you by the fact that I can smell the blood bags in the cooler and that you looked scared when I asked about it."
She looks at me with a shocked expression. "Wait, what? Really? How long??"
I sigh. "168 years. You?"
"Wow. Only a few months. Damon's fault."
"Wow. Well let me tell you, you would've loved the 1800s. Fashion was a thing."
She laughs. "That is why I'm the head of the dance committee!"
We both laugh. "So, tomorrow I want to dye my hair, get two tattoos, and a piercing. You wanna come with? We can go shopping for our costumes for the dance next Friday."
She smiles. "I'm in!"
--time skip to next Friday. The day of the decades dance--
After school, Caroline and I go back to her house. I've been here all week, but her mom doesn't mind. She's actually very nice to me.
"Alright. Let's do this.", Care says.
We both get dressed into our outfits for the 70s dance tonight. Last weekend, I dyed my long hair maroon, got a septum piercing, and two tattoos. One is on my side and goes on to my back. The other is on my forearm. Surprisingly, I saved up enough money for all of it and still had enough to buy a costume for the dance.
For the dance, I chose a pretty cool costume. It's a mid thigh length dress that's black with white designs and a white belt. To go along with it is white go-go boots, white, round-frame sunglasses, and silver dangley earrings.I did a gray smokey eye and nude lipstick as my makeup. I curled my hair and bangs, but making my bangs kind of curl backwards. I placed the glasses on my head and walked out.
Caroline curled her hair also. She wore a pinkish blazer and pencil skirt, black gloves, and a black hat on her head. She decided to keep her makeup natural so it was just some mascara and pink lipgloss.
"I think we look hot.", she says.
"Oh yeah? Wait until senior prom.", I laugh.
She laughs at me and nods in agreement as we walk out of her house. She got into her car and unlocked my door so I could get in. After I sit down and close my door, she leaves and I start to think about this past week.
I've had more dreams about Klaus, and apparently he's here in Mystic Falls. When I heard the news, a part of me was excited. Yet, another part of me was worried for my friends once I heard what he wanted. I couldn't believe it. Klaus, the guy I was once in love with. They guy who risked our relationship and left me in hope to protect me. He was here now. And trying to kill my friends for a sacrifice to break his curse.
"We're here! Oh and be careful. I'm nearly one-hundred percent sure that someone has already spiked the punch and lemonade.", Care says.
"Noted.", I smile a her and we both get out of the car and head inside the building.
Once we get inside, we end up separating. She goes off to find Elena and Bonnie and I end up finding Damon and Stefan.
"Ah, so the pretty lady is more social than I expected.", Damon says and smirks.
"And the hot guy isn't trying to get drunk off of his arse like every other day this week."
He smiles at me. "Touche."
I then realize that tonight is the night that everything goes down. Klaus just dedicated a song to Elena.
