Up in My HeadChapter 4
"Ow!" I shout, "You flicked my forehead!" I rub my hand against my forehead, as if I were wiping the pain away.
"Yeah, I know." Jason says sarcastically,"Rise and shine, Sunshine."
I stumble out of bed and give him an evil death glare for disturbing my sleep. I mean seriously, the sun isn't even up yet. He doesn't care though, he goes back to fiddling with a bronze wand. He twirls it around with his fingers gracefully, creating a blob of gold dusty light in the air. It is almost as if there was a 3D projector right in front of him. I take a seat next to him on the floor and cross my legs. I stare in amusement. The wand is sort of like a sparkler, but when he draws something its comes to life. He sketches a rabbit and with a tap from the wand its hopped around the room in mid air .
A smile came to my face and I giggled with joy. The rabbit hopped into Jason's hands like he was his owner or something. Jason noticed how interested I was. An evil smirk grew upon his face. He clapped his other
on top of the rabbit making a 'slap' noise. The golden light burst from his hands evaporating into the air. Peer terror was written on my face.
Jason was rolling on the ground laughing his butt off.
"How could you!" I half scream half croak.
"You should have seen the look on your face!" He laughed in between every other word. I slap him up side the head, but he didn't seem to feel it.
With all my force and energy I whip the stair case door open and sprint down the stairs. I kick to tree door open and stumble onto the ground. Forcing my body to get up I start walking into the woods with my arms crossed.
"And where do you think your going?"
I let out a startled scream and jerk around expecting Jason to be standing behind me but he wasn't there.
"Who said that!?" I shout.
"I did, Sunshine."
Only one person calls me that. Jason.
"Where are you?"
"In your head, dingbat."
"What!" I scream out loud. "Get out!"
"No can do. I'm your guardian. Its just the way it is. And FYI there's no need to speak aloud, we can communicate in our heads."
At first I don't believe him, but how else would he be in my head?
"Pickles!" I shout in my head, testing to see if this is true.
"Why pickles?"
"Oh my goodness! It works!"
"Yeah." He says sarcastically.
"This will be so much fun!" I giggle. He does a mental groan.
"Now I get to annoy you in your head!"
No response.
"Hello?"
"Boo!"
I jump ten feet in the air and let out a yelp. My hand clutched to my heart. Jason stood right behind me with a smirk on his face.
"Your such a jerk." I huff.
"I will take that as a compliment." He said with a grin, "We better get going, the sun will be up anytime soon."
"UUUUUHHHHHHGGGGGG!" I groan over dramatically.
He sends a glare my way that says "wow."
We keep following the trail we did yesterday. All I see is trees. Boring trees.
"Are we there yet?" I complain.
"No."
"How about now?"
"No."
"What about now?"
"Yes."
"Seriously!?" I felt all my hopes rise in excitement.
"Nope."
"Don't do that!"
"Then stop being an immature child."
"Excuse me!?" I snap.
"You heard me. Now shut up and be a good girl." He patted my head.
"You disgust me."
"That's what you think now."
"What is that suppose to mean?" I questioned.
A grin crawl onto his face but he didn't say anything.
"I can still bother you in your head."
It got boring fast though because he didn't respond. We walked in silence for awhile. The flapping of wings above disrupts the awkward silence. I lean my head back to only see a couple Phoenix's.
There fire red feathers glisten in the sunlight. Sharp beaks prepared to kill. Beady black eyes ready to win a stare down. They were beautiful creatures.
The sun is setting and my stomach growls for food. Jason look down at me in shock.
"Oh yeah, I forget that those who have lived on Earth tend to get hungrier easier." He pulls out some bobby berries out of his pocket and drops then in my cupped hands. I shove them in my mouth like there's no tomorrow.
Jason let out a chuckle. "You gotta a little something there." Gesturing his hand around his mouth. I wipe my hand across my mouth to only see blue stains. Lovely.
We cross over a wide crick on a stone bridge. The water sparkles in the sun like a diamond engagement ring.
I look ahead and see a very large a massive white iron gateway with two knights in shining silver armor. They were standing still in position with pointed swords at their side.
Jason looks at one of the knights.
"Jason, Guardian of the Kiteheart's daughter." He pointed to me. The knights saluted and the gate began to open. My mind goes blank. I have no clue what's going on. The pathway looks as if it is made of a fancy stone.
To the right there's a huge waterfall with trees, plants, and flowers of the color turquoise everywhere. Strange white birds half the size of a Twinkie, whizz by with a melodic tweet.
Jason keeps dragging me down the pathway, but I still got to see lots of strange creatures I've never seen before. We reach a group of elves snickering under a lavender petaled tree. They eye me up and down. They all went wide eyes and whispered to one another secretly.
Finally we reached a spotless white castle. It is the biggest structure I've ever seen in my life. The towers above towered high and almighty. The windows were massive. The stone wall were very well detailed. Above the doorway read "Kiteheart's Kingdom."
I send a confused look in Jason's direction. He smiled genuinely. "Welcome home, Princess."
