Chapter 8
Ice
Blaze and I decided to head back to the castle because I was still very thirsty. Surprisingly the elves didn't stare at me this time. Instead they carried on with their gardening.
We reach the huge white front entry way. I curl my hand around the giant smooth handle and pull with all my might, attempting to open the darn thing.
I step back and let out a loud huff of disappointment. A light tap on my right shoulder caught my attention. I jerk around quickly to only see Rowan right in front of me, showing if his pearly whites.
"Need a hand?" he gestured towards the castles entry door.
"Uh...umm.." I stutter, my cheeks reddening even more.
"Aw, your blushing." He says pressing a thumb against my cheek. Blaze lets out a low growl.
He grins, ignoring the growl, and yanks the handle as if I didn't weigh a ton.
I stare back at him wide eyed. "h-h-how did you do that." I point at the door.
"Oh, princess, you have so much to learn." Rowan pats the top of my head, causing my to slightly flinch. I glare back at him and stomp into the castle with Blaze at my side.
"Zoey, dear! Is that you?" shouted a melodic bell voice.
"Yes!" I shout back. I linger into the library and see Mother sitting in a tall backed chair holding a small brown book with a gold lock on it.
I give her a confused look. She smiled back and walked towards me, holding out the book.
"I thought it was about time you should have this." She says kindly. "It's been passed down through generation for century's."
"What is it?" I ask.
"The book of spells, curses, magic, and all that fun stuff. I figured it would help you with your training."
"Oh, well thank you." I respond back kindly, tracing my fingers over all the different signs and symbols on the book. "Does it have a key?" I ask, studying the smooth flawless gold lock.
She pulled a gold chain with a small key on it out of her jacket pocket. She dropped the chain into my hand. The key also had strange foreign symbols.
Before heading upstairs I grab some weird purple and green fruit and find left over meat for Blaze. Her tongue sticks out and drool seeps out of her mouth.
" Well that sure is attractive." I say, holding back a chuckle. She game me an quick evil glare then quickly gobbled done the meat within seconds. A loud bell erupts from her mouth.
As we jog up the massive amount of stairs, I trip over my own foot and fumble down a few stairs. Blaze rolls unto her back laughing her head off. Normal I'd be wincing in pain, but when you see an oversized dog rolling all over the place laughing you can't hold in all that laughter.
"What's going on here?"
I turn my head and see confused Jason looking down at me as if I were a crazy nut job on the lose.
"Oh, nothing." I say, still half laughing. He let's out a huff and walks past me. It sounded like he mumbled something, but I wasn't quite for sure.
Once Blaze and I caught our breath, we went to my room. Surprisingly no bruises were splattered on my legs. I flopped onto the bed and Blaze sniffed every possible thing in the room. Ignoring her, I studied the book. I snatched the flawless key out of my pocket and stuck it into the lock. A bright gold glow arose from the book. The glow was so bright it lit up the entire room. The foreign symbols began to shimmer.
There was a faint knock in the door. But as I was to distracted by the light, I ignored the knock. Before I could even catch up with reality Jason barged into my room.
"What are you doing!?" He shouted in shock.
"Um...I..uhh." I say, not knowing what exactly to say.
He snatched the book out of my grip.
"Hey! That's mine!" I shout, irritated.
" I don't think so. Do you know how powerful this is?" I stare back blankly. "Exactly. You can have it back once you have more experience." He says annoyed. He casually walks out the door with the book, shutting the door behind him.
I let out a loud roar in frustration. I hate this guy so much. Who does he think he is to take my book!
"Heynowcalmdown."
"Getoutofmyhead you retard!" I scream back.
An extreme shiver shuddered through my veins. Along with tons of rage.
"Zoey, calm down," said Blaze quietly, " we will get the book tomorrow. It's not a big deal...." Was that fear I sensed in her voice? I don't know and I don't care. All I feel is anger. Tons and tons of anger.
My breathing became heavier. The atmosphere became much more colder. Goosebumps scattered across my arms. My hands began to shake.
Blaze backed away from me, whimpering. A warm but yet freezing sensational energy pulsed through my body. Before I even realized what was happening, coldness burst from my hands unto the wall in front of me. Blaze let out a yelp. I let out a loud gasp. I cautiously walk to the wall. My hand slowly grazed along to wall. And that's when I realized my the wall had a thick layer of ice on it.
