Chapter 6

The Long Lost Parents

Sunlight seeps through the window. My eyes flutter frantically adjusting to the surroundings. I sit up and stretch my arms outwards.

I throw my feet over the edge of the bed and walk to the balcony. The balcony looks down upon the crisp clear waterfall and the whole front of the castle. Flowers creep up and vines twist around the white cement spindles. The faint chirp of the purple birds call in the distance. A cool breeze flies by, giving me goosebumps. I walk back into the room in search for something much warmer to wear.

I end up wearing a white jacket and a pair of skinny jeans. I slip into a pair of fluffy looking slippers. I suddenly have the urge to pee. I cross my legs frantically. A knock on the door erupts my thoughts. I jerk up and hop towards the door. I turn the knob and peak through the crack.

"Yes?" I ask slowly, fidgeting the whole time.

"Ready for breakfast?" Jason asked, scratching the back of his neck.

"Well," I stutter, "I kind of have to pee." I hop in place.

I can tell he is holding back a smile. "Bathroom is down the hall on the left." He gestured.

I hop down the hallway as fast as I was capable of going. I push the door open not even bothering to knock. It was such a relief to finally use the bathroom.

As I zipped up my jeans zipper and notice the mugginess in the room. The shower water is running and steam fills the room. Uh oh. The shower stops and the shower slide door creaks open. I could feel my cheeks burning up.

A tall muscular guy stalked out in search for a towel.

"Ah! My eyes!" My hands shield over my eyes in a quick motion after what I just saw. I am now scarred for life.

"Princess?" Said a low familiar voice startled. A pair of emerald green eyes meet mine.

"Uhh." I finished at that and rushed out the door. I sensed my face was as red as a cherry, on fire.

"What's wrong?" Jason grabbed my arm tugging me back. His eyes dart to mine.

"Nothing." I say a little to quickly. I give him a glare. "How about we go eat breakfast." I say quickly changing the subject, never wanting to talk about what just happened.

He gives me a suspicious glare. "Fine."

We jog down the forever lasting stairs. Once we hit the bottom level I follow him into a huge bright room. The smell of sugar and bacon take over the room. There is a long cherry wood table full of all sort of steaming food. My mouth waters.

"That's attractive." Jason points at my mouth. My hand quickly swipes over my mouth. Ermagerd! I was drooling! My cheeks redden once again. I growl to myself.

"Zoey!" I look up to see a stunning mid aged women and man. The women had shoulder length blonde hair. Her eyes were a warm chocolate brown. She was quite pale compared to the man next to her. She had a petite figure and wasn't much taller then me. The man was much taller but muscular. He had bulging blue eyes the color of the sky on a hot summer day. His short hair was so dark it almost looked black, but in certain lighting it looked as if there was a red tint. His skin was ten shades darker then the women's. Both wore a crown upon their head. It was silver with green, blue, and red diamond looking stone.

A cock my head to the side. "Yes?"

They both come towards me with open arms. They squeeze me till I can no longer feel my limbs. "Are you my parents?" I blurt.

They both turn to look at each other. It looked as if they were telepathically talking, which I wouldn't doubt at all.

"How about we discuss it over breakfast." Said the woman in a melodic sweet voice. I follow them to the table and sit beside Jason.

After shoving two plate fulls of bacon and a sugary bread the man breaks the silence.

"Yes, Zoey, we are your parents. I know there must be a thousand questions floating around in your noggin, but we will answer all of them."

I stare into his eyes deeply. I wanted answers now. "I was told my parents were dead. Why was it a lie?! And why have I been living with Tammy and not here?!"

"Honey, we are visible spirits, which means we are kind of like humans, useless. I know you must be very confused, but we only did it to protect you, including Tammy." Stated my mom.

"From what!?" I snap, slamming my fist down on the table.

Jason, with out a care in the world kept gobbling down his food.

Shock wipes their expressions off there faces. "Zoey," she said slowly, "it isn't safe here. We didn't want to raise you around monsters. We figured if we gave you a chance out in the human world things would be fine, you could have a normal life. But your father and I decided we had to tell you. We couldn't hold back such a secret."

I glare at them. There was a moment if silence. "Do you know who you really are?" asked Dad.

"Well apparently I'm the princess of this place." I say a bit sassy.

"Zoey. You are the fairy princess of winter." Mom smiles.

"What are you talking about?" I snap.

"You have the long lost powers of winter. You just haven't discovered them yet."

My mouth opens but no words come out. Are they for real? What does that even mean?

"What do you mean by fairy?"

"You aren't human. You never were. But since you've lived in the human world your whole life and haven't discovered your powers, you would easily be mistaken as a human."

It feels like all this information is being shoved into my head to quickly.

I shove another piece of bacon in my mouth as I try to comprehend all of this. I'm a fairy princess. It sounds so childish. And yet I hold some undiscovered power?

I point at Jason. "What is this whole guardian thing about?"

"Honey, Jason is kind of like your side kick, but he helps protect you and watch out for you," she explains, "I'm sure you two have already discovered you can telepathically speak." she clasps her hands together.

"Yeah." Jason says annoyed.

"I'm not a child anymore. He doesn't need to watch out for me." I say annoyed. "And why him? He's such a jerk."

"We didn't chose your guardian, it's just fate."

I let out a low growl.

"Your worth more then you think. If anything ever happened to you, It would severely effect the Kiteheart's Kingdom." She says calmly. I pushed my plate away and crossed my arms.

"Why do I have to be here? I apparently didn't have to be here before."

Silence over took the room. "Before we were killed we were in battle with the Vendreds, which are the evil forces of Sulia. They wanted our power since it was the most powerful, but we refused to give it. Vendreds know they can't cross our territory, but they did. Even though we were powerful they still had more. Vampires, dark fairies, dragons and all the others invaded the castle at night. In the end we were killed and they received our power," Dad exclaims, "But they know you exist, and they want you and your powers."

A shiver crawled up my spine. I didn't like the thought of that.

It's gettingx intense!!! Hope your enjoying it so far. Shout out to Velvet Burghardt and Alexis Grace:)))
