So I'm not that happy with this chapter but it happens sometimes. I hope that you guys like it. Also I know that my cliff hangers are getting old and they're not that great but, all well. Enjoy.

I got in the front seat of Max's car. We didn't let go of each other's hands until we got to his car. He got in the drivers seat and flashed a celebrity like smile. I'm not sure if he noticed but I was definitely blushing. I was excited about going to get ice cream with Max and I just wanted to forget about everything that has happened and enjoy my time out with my friend. "Do you mind if I put some tunes on?" He asked me as we left school property. "No not at all. I love music." One of my favourite songs came on and I couldn't help myself but to sing to it. "She tells him ooh love, no one's ever gonna hurt you, love. I'm gonna give you all of my love, nobody matters like you." I belted out the lyrics to rockabye baby. Max looked over at me with an amused look on his face laughing at me and shaking his head. "What?" I asked curiously.
"Just the fact that you're a really bad singer." Oh no he didn't. No one criticises my singing skills. "Ok then. Let's see if you can do any better." I said to him.
"A challenge? I accept." I turned up the music and I listened to him sing. "So, rockabye baby, rockabye. I'm gonna rock you. Rockabye baby, don't you cry, Somebody's got you" well that was a stupid idea. Max is an amazing singer. Too bad it won't last long. I joined in and we sung the rest of the song at the top of our lungs.

"I think it's clear that I won." He said smugly as he parked the car outside of the ice cream parlour.
"Whatever" I said defeated. I got out of the car and Max took my hand again. I had no problem with it because his had felt so warm and comforting. It was nice. We walked into the shop and I ordered mint choc chip. Max got strawberry. We sat and ate in comfort as we had a light conversation about random things. Having stupid little arguments and laughing. It was fun.

~70 minutes later~

"So do you want to tell me what happened at that party?" Max asked. By this time we had long finished our ice cream and I was just playing with the spoon. I took a deep breathe in and knew that I could trust him enough to tell him my problems. "My um, boyfriend broke up with me via text letting me know that he has found a slut to replace me and Greyson was rude to me and was going to let me walk home instead of dropping me off, then I bumped into Parker and I couldn't keep my emotions in any more." Wow. That was a lot to just pile on top of him all at once. I hope that he could take it all in. I was looking down at my spoon and cup that was on the table. Max didn't say anything and I was getting worried so I looked up at him to see that he was starting back at me with an emotionless face. I could see that his eyes had darkened a couple of shades and I wondered what was going on inside that brain of his. "Max?" I questioned still looking at each other. "Sorry. Um, he's a jerk and doesn't deserve you. You should be with a real man who will take care and look after you." He grabbed my hands and held them in his on top of the table. His thumbs stroking over my knuckles. He looked at our hands as I looked at him taking in his features. He really was perfect looking. He looked back up at me, directly into my eyes actually. "I would never do that to you Courtney." Those words. He sent shivers down my spine and I got goosebumps but in a good way. I smiled warmly at him when the door opened abruptly. Max looked at the door and let go of my hands quickly and cleared his throat. I looked behind me to see Parker. He ordered a smoothie and came over to us once he saw us. He subtly glared at Max which I picked up on but smiled at me. "Hey Courtney, Max." He said as he took a sip of his drink. "Hey Parker, what are you doing here?" I asked him. You could feel the tension in the room. "I had a free period. What about you guys, shouldn't you be in maths?" Ugh!This was so awkward. "I, um" I stuttered out not really knowing how to explain to him that I was upset, partly having to do with him and needed to get away. "Courtney was feeling a bit down and didn't want to go to class so we came to get ice cream instead." Max filled in truthfully. Thank god that he rescued me. "Uh huh. Max can I talk to you privately please?" Parker said with an edge to his tone.
"Sure." Max got up and they went over to the other side of the room. I watched them carefully as they spoke. Looking over at me and smiling a couple of times. There were hand gestures going on pointing in my direction and I could tell that they weren't happy and that their words weren't that kind. They came back over to me and I smiled. "I've gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow after school Courtney." Parker said winking at me before walking out the door onto the footpath. I had totally forgot about that. Library tomorrow, right. Max looked at me frustrated and I smiled weakly at him. "We better go too before next period." He said towards me. The warm Max that I saw before had left. "Yeah." I said a bit disappointed.

We got back to school just before the bell to finish second period. The drive back was an awkward silence. I could tell that Max was unsettled by something. His grip on the steering wheel was so tight that his knuckles had turned white. We got out of the car and made our way to the door. I stopped and put my hand on Max's shoulder forcing him to stop too. "Thanks for today. I really needed it." I said genuinely and he smiled warmly. The Max that I liked was back.
"No problem, you can come to me for anything you know that right?" I nodded. "Good, I hate to see you upset." We smiled at each other and I hugged him taking him a little bit off guard but he quickly recovered and bear hugged me tightly. I pulled back and smiled before walking away from him to find Breeana. Instead I found Greyson. He saw me and came over to me a blank expression on his face. Great. What does he want. He's already apologised and he didn't need to say anything else but as he got closer I could see anger in his eyes. His fists were clenched and he didn't look happy which was great because all I needed was more people pissing me off today. I wonder what he has to say.
