I was hiding behind Elise's couch. Holding Charlie close in one hand and keeping my balance with the other hand. The white ‚IKEA' couch was soft and smelled a lot like spring flowers. Like Elise.

„Am I interrupting you with..." Elise cut her of with saying ‚No' a little to often.

„I'm just talking to my dad on the phone. Would you give me a minute?" She didn't even wait for Kaitlyn's answer and closed the door. In front of them. She ran towards me looking worried.

„Kaitlyn would tell everybody." I nodded.

„We can't tell them. It's to early." I said and Elise agreed.

„I'll hide in your room." I was about to go, when Elise grabbed my arm and turned me around. Our lips met. Charlie was in my arms, between us. After a soft kiss, she pulled away and looked into my eyes. She got closer and whispered into my ear.

„You're cute when you're worried." I grinned and went into her room. It was right next to the living room/ kitchen, that was connected to the front door by a small corridor. The room of Elise's former roommate and a small room, that was used as a storage room were also connected to the corridor.

„What are you hiding?" Kaitlyn said as she came in. Suspicious as always. I was able to hear every word they were saying, when I would press my ear against the door.

„Is somebody here?" I could tell that Elise was blushing.

„No!"

„Oh come on. I can tell that you're acting weird." Kaitlyn laughed.

„Do you have a man over?" I heard footsteps coming closer. Faster footsteps. Elise was standing right in front of the door, I was hiding behind.

„Don't be ridiculous! There is no-one here except for us."

„Then why am I not allowed to go to your bedroom?" They laughed, as if that was the most natural thing.

„Because it's messy." Elise said.

„And I haven't seen your apartment messy yet?" I was imagining how a grinning Kaitlyn, with crossed arms was standing in front of a shaking, still beautiful Elise.

„Okay I'll tell you."

‚No, no, no no' I whispered. My skin was covered with goosebumps.

„I was preparing you're birthday present and it's in my bedroom now."

Footsteps.

„About that." It was harder to understand them.

„I'm going to be in Ottawa for at least a month. Home you know. My grandmother is sick and I want to say good bye before she passes away. I'm taking a flight this night."

Oh fuck, I thought. I wouldn't be able to say goodbye. But on the other hand I knew that Kaitlyn wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut if I would've went out there and said good bye.

„Oh and I was at smokebomb and they told me to tell you that you should call them because of an interview." They became harder to understand for another five minutes. A door closed. Footsteps. The door of Elise's bedroom opened.

„That was close." Elise grinned.

„I guess we need a rad present for Kaitlyn?" I laughed. Elise got closer, wrapped her arms around my neck and nodded. She bit her lip and whispered „But first I need to calm down. That was really stressful." I tittered and pecked her lips.

„Shouldn't you call smokebomb?"

„You heard that?"

„Vampire ears. Forgot?" Elise laughed and softly boxed my arm. She went to the other side of the room, where a phone was laying. She searched for a contact.

„Hey it's Elise." She took a few steps through the apartment and said some words like „sure" and „alright".

She ended the call with saying „I'll tell her. Bye."

She turned around, with a smile as big as her heart.

„We have an interview."

„With?" She turned around and walked towards the kitchen. Slowly, she got two glasses and some water, took them and faced me again. Elise was such a drama queen at some points.

„AfterEllen."

„That's amazing!" I wanted to hug her, but the glasses in her hands blocked me.

„We'll meet tomorrow."

„On a Sunday?"

„Yup." She reached me a glass and took a slip herself.

Shortly after, I left the apartment with Charlie. Not without a good bye kiss from Elise of course.

I went to War Mart and got anything I needed before I headed home. People must have thought that I was a psychopath, because I smiled the whole time. They where probably already hiding their kids from me.

I opened the door to my apartment, threw the groceries into the kitchen, went into my bedroom and fell onto my bed. I relaxed for a moment. I took my pillow, held it on my face and screamed. Not in a scared way, but in a happy way.

That was the end of the best day of my life. So far.
