Basically Liam's grandad dies and he really needs someone with him

Liam couldn't be happier
The plane had just landed in Australia, his favorite place
But that happiness couldn't last long
With Liam's luck the past few months he was ready for something bad to happen
They got to the hotel okay. Liam decided to just go lie down for a few minutes
But when he got up to his room, that's when his happiness was ruined

Zayn didn't know what was happening
He had got a call from Karen telling him to go to Liam's room, that he needed him
He thought about Andy. The fire
Zayn was sure that it was going to be Andy, that's the only thing that could have happened
But Zayn definatley didn't expect what he saw

When Zayn got to Liam's room he unlocked it with Paul's key without knocking
The image was awful
Liam was laying on the made bed, face in the pillows, shoulders shaking
Zayn ran to him and sat down next to him
Liam looked up with red eyes and threw himslef into Zayn's arms
"Zayn" Liam sobbed
"It's okay Liam" Zayn soothed
He sat there, a sobbing Liam in his arms
He was trying to sooth his best friend
(A friend he had feelings for, he would never say it though, especially with Liam like this)

Zayn stayed with Liam all night, rocking him back and forth trying to calm him
The most heartbreaking thing for Zayn was that he never stopped crying
When he woke in the morning he looked at Liam, peacful on his chest
He decided to let him sleep, but that didn't matter 5 minutes later when Liam turned over and buried his face in Zayn's neck
"Liam you need to tell me what's happening babe" Zayn said in a soothing voice
"He's gone" and Zayn's heart breaks, because he's never heard Liam sound so broken
"Who Liam"
"My grandad" Liam whispers, barely audible
But audible enogh for Zayn to hear it
And Zayn pulls Liam into his lap and cradles him like a baby
"I'm so so sorry Liam" Zayn can't even think of the right words to say, because Zayn knows that Liam's grandad was the reason Liam is a singer
Zayn's phone flashes with a call from Karen
"I'm gonna take this to the hallway Li. You gonna be okay" Liam nods and climbs off Zayn's lap
"Hello" he answers as soon as he gets into the hallway
"Zayn, is he okay?"
"I don't know" Zayn says honestly "he cried so hard last night, I've never seen him so upset"
"Zayn, please take care of him over the next few days, I don't want him to get stuck in his head. You also can't let him come home. His grandad was so proud and it won't be good for him to come"
"I promise Karen" and he does

Liam is quiet for the rest of the day
The boys look really worried
Zayn stays close to Liam
And Liam lets him
At the arena he almost refuses to do soundcheck
Zayn convinces him, but Liam just isn't Liam
"Mate what's wrong with Liam?" is the question Louis asks when Liam says no to a party
"His grandad died. I don't know how to handle it"
"Oh god anything but that" Louis replies, also knowing the situation between Liam and his grandad
"What should I do?"
"Just do what you feel needs to be done. He trusts you Zayn, you have to help him"

Liam clings to Zayn for the rest of the day
Zayn has caught him with tears in his eyes multiple times and tried to distract him
He knew Liam needed to let it out, but he also knew that Liam hated crying in public, that it makes him feel weak
He's surprised when Liam buried his face under Zayn's chest and takes a deep breath
"Liam" Zayn whispers
"I need him Zayn"
"Listen babe" Liam looks at him "I know that it stings I know it's hard but I promise you, he is looking down at you smiling because he is so proud, he is happy that you're doing what he wanted you to do, something he knew you had the talent to do, something that you love. I know how much it hurts, but you can't give up, okay? I'm here for you always. You can call me at any time if you need me. I'm not going to leave you alone for the next few days. I know how much he meant to you and I'll be your shoulder to cry on. Right now I'm promising you that he is always with you. Always. He's in your heart when you're performing, because that is what he wanted you to do so badly"
Liam blinked at Zayn before breaking down completely
Zayn cradled Liam in his lap, stroking his hair and saying soothing words into his ear
Zayn couldn't get him to calm down

When Zayn finally managed to calm Liam down, he was comletely exhausted
He was currently laying on Zayn's chest, drawing patterns that were almost soothing Zayn to sleep
But he knew he couldn't sleep until he got Liam to his room and made sure he was okay
"Zayn? Are you awake?" He heard a small voice ask from his chest
"Yea. You okay?"
"I wanna go home"
"No Liam. You can't go home because if you do, everything will get worse. We'll be lost, the fans will be sad, and you need to get away from everything right now"
"But I just want to be there for the funeral. I want to say goodbye to him. And also Andy's still in the hospital. I don't know if I can enjoy anything knowing that my best mate is in pain and that my family is suffering and I'm not there" it's a convincing argument, one that Zayn almost gives into
Almost
"I know Liam. But Andy's okay. And your mum doesn't want you to come back"
And then Zayn has an idea of how Liam can say goodbye

Liam dedicates More Than This to his grandad, it was his favorite song and Liam wanted to make it special
The boys are all careful around Liam for the first few days but everything goes back to normal when they are sure he's okay and coping
