Gemma Walker slowly got out of bed and sat at her vanity, she looked at her reflection in the mirror and noticed that her skin was now more pale than before and her blonde locks seemed a bit brighter. Since her transition, she seemed to notice every little things, she didn't know why she was bit; she was well liked and had no known enemies in her small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. Her parents always told her stories about the days where vampires ruled over Mystic Falls, but she never believed they were real, because while she was told stories about Vampires, she was also told stories about Angels. She thought it was just a myth, she found out not long ago how wrong she truly was. Her family was apart of the many different founding families in Mystic Falls and she knew they were apart of the Founders Council. She constantly found herself wondering what they would do if they found out their little girl was the one thing they hated the most. She was quickly snapped out of her thoughts by a knock on her door.
"Gem, it's time to get ready for school," she walked over to the door and put her best sick face on and slowly opened the door, "aw honey still not feeling good?" she saw her mothers face and she slowly nodded.
"I promise to get all my makeup work from Caroline." She said in a hushed tone.
"Well you get some rest, I am working a double at the hospital and won't be home until after midnight," she went to leave but turned back around, "oh and your father also has a late meeting with a client so he won't be back until after eight or so." she nodded to her mother before giving her a loving hug and then kissed her forehead. Once she was gone Gemma closed her bedroom door and sat on her bed. She was tired of being forced to stay home all day, once she heard her mothers car pull out of the driveway she picked up her phone and called Caroline Forbes. The night Gemma was turned Caroline found her and helped her complete the transition; she had also started to help her control her thirst and not kill people while feeding. Caroline told Gemma that she was a new vampire as well and was still trying to get the hang of controlling her thirst and was happy she had a friend to do it with.
"What's wrong Gem?"
"I want to walk in the sun, I can't keep missing school," she said to over the phone, "just tell Bonnie, please, I am tired of not feeling normal."
"Bonnie, Elena, and I will be over soon."
"See you soon." Gemma said quietly but she knew Caroline could hear her. Gemma hung up the phone and got off of her bed. She walked over to her closet and opened the doors; when she got inside she stood near the door until she figured out what she was going to wear. She used her vamp-speed to quickly do something with her hair, and did her makeup. Once finished she ran down to the front door, she screamed in pain as the sun hit her arms but she ignored it as she unlocked the front door. Gemma ran to her fathers office and picked up one of his many bottles of scotch and took the lid off and slowly drank the liquid inside, Caroline had told her that drinking can help take the edge off. When she heard the doorbell ring and the door open, she downed the rest of the bottle and put it into the trash.
"Gemma?" she heard Caroline's voice and she walked to the offices door and smiled at her friends. They all walked over and Bonnie took Gemma's hand and pulled her further inside the office.
"Here's the ring, I still need to do the spell." Bonnie said quickly before starting the spell. Gemma put the ring onto her finger and walked over to the window and opened the curtains, the sun started soaking into her skin and she found herself smiling. She looked at Bonnie,
"Thank you so much Bonnie," they hugged briefly, "now what to do for the rest of the day."
"We could go to the grill. I mean we are already skipping school." Elena suggested. They all agreed it would be fun, Gemma ran to her room and grabbed her ID and credit card and met everyone downstairs by the front door. They went outside and Gemma locked the door behind them. Caroline was already inside her car and starting it, Gemma got into the backseat beside Elena and smiled. She looked out the window as Caroline drove enjoying that she was now able to be outside during the day. When Caroline pulled into the parking lot all four girls going out and walked to the front of the building and walked inside. The grill was almost completely empty but in a few hours when school was over it would be packed. They sat down at a booth near the pool table and they all ordered something to eat, Caroline ended up grabbing Gemma's hand and they walked towards the bar,
