Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven:

Gemma woke up the next morning to her phone ringing, she looked at the screen and saw that it was Mrs. Lockwood calling her;
"Mrs. Lockwood?"
"Hey Gemma, sorry to wake you. But have you heard from Tyler?"
"No I haven't, is everything okay?"
"I can't get a hold of him."
"I'm sure he will call you soon."
"You're probably right, are you coming by later?"
"Yes, I will be there."
"Good, see you in a couple hours." the line went dead and Gemma fell back asleep. She woke up an hour later to her alarm. She groaned but got out of her bed. She went to her bathroom and looked at her hair and decided that it didn't need washed and she just played with it to make it look good, she did her makeup and then went into her closet and got dressed. Gemma left her house and walked to the Lockwood mansion. When she got there she sees Stefan, Caroline and Elena talking.
"Hey guys!"
"Hey Gem, that dress looks amazing on you." Elena said happily.
"Thanks, how's Matt?" she asked Caroline.
"He knows and he ran away and now I can't find him." Caroline replied clearly worried, "what if he tells everyone?"
"No, we just gotta find him and make sure that doesn't happen." Stefan said looking at Elena, "do you have any idea where he would be?"
"I wish I did, but he wasn't really one to run."
"You know, this wasn't how it was supposed to happen. You know, I was supposed to tell him at the right moment in the right way, and he was supposed to be okay with it because he loves me."
"We'll help you find him. I just have to accept this thing for Jenna." Elena said.
"Alright. Well, call me when you're done, and I'll be out looking for him." Caroline said, walking out of the house.
"Maybe he'll come around. You did." Stefan told Elena, the event started soon after and Carol started talking to everyone.
"And here to accept the donation to Miranda Sommers Gilbert scholarship fund is Elena Gilbert." Elena smiles and joins Carol.  Elena accepts the check.
"The historical society was my mom's baby. She considered all of you family and would honored and touched by this gift." everyone hears a noise and they all rush over to the source of the noise and see John, unconscious on the floor. Stefan and Gemma both look at each other when they see the bite mark on John's neck, Carol comes over and takes control of the situation.
"Please, let the Sheriff do her job." Carol said as Sheriff Forbes joins them.
"Uh, he's-he's bleeding. Is he okay?"
"Yeah, I go it. I got it." Sheriff Forbes says, she looks at John and turns to the crows, "you know what? Let's all back off. He just needs some air. Everything's fine." Stefan grabs Gemma's hand and goes into the other room looking for Elena, they found her.
"You okay?" Stefan asked.
"I'm calling Damon."
"Let's get out of here. Come on you two." All three go to Elena's car and she is on the phone.
"It's Isobel, Damon. It's gotta be."
"Tell him he needs to get over here and deal with John's body." Stefan said, "you've got some serious explaining to do to the council about John being not so dead." Elena hangs up the phone and Stefan pushes her against the car, Gemma became extremely protective over Elena and placed her hand on Stefan's arm and pulls him back
"What the hell?"
"Where the hell is she? Huh?" suddenly Elena stabs Stefan in the neck with a syringe.
"Katherine." Gemma said to herself.
"Look who is the smart one. I'm sorry, Stef, but I can't have you following me. I only have one syringe, so." suddenly the world went black.
When Gemma woke up, she was in her bedroom and saw that she was alone. She started rubbing her neck.
"That bitch broke my neck." Gemma said to herself. She saw a note on the bedside table that it was Stefan that had brought her home. She just decided she would stay in bed the rest of the day, drink her worries away, She went downstairs using her speed and grabbed a bottle of vodka out of the freezer. She ran back to her room and decided she would watch all the Resident Evil movies until she was passed out. It was during the last movie when she fell asleep.
When Gemma woke up the next morning she rolled over and got up for school. She went into her closet and choose a black pair of skinny jeans and a deep red tank top, she slipped on a pair of boots and then went into her bathroom. She went into her bathroom and started french braiding her hair, she did her makeup, then brushed her teeth. She used her vampire speed and quickly did her home from two days ago and then she left for school.
When she got there, she went into Alaric's classroom and sat in her seat behind where Elena was sitting. She saw Elena showing Stefan a decade dance poster. He shakes his head 'no', she then shows it to Gemma and she nods her head 'yes', Alaric arrives.
"Hello, class. What are we learning today?"
"With the decade dance tonight, we've been covering the sixties all week." Dana told Alaric.
"Right, the sixties." Alaric said, he looks at Elena and then his eyes flash quickly to Gemma, he turns around to face the board, "the, uh, ahem." he starts to write on the board, "the sixties. I wish there was something good I could say about the sixties, but.. actually, they kind of sucked."
"Except for the Beatles. They're great." Gemma told him
"Yes, they made it bearable. Uh, what else was there? The Cuban Missile thing, the...we walked on the moon. There was Watergate."
"Watergate was the seventies, Alaric. I-I mean Mr. Saltzman." Gemma said, and then quickly looked down at her books.
"Right. It all kind of mushes together up her, the sixties, seventies. Thank you, Gemma." he continued to talk about random things until the bell rang, everyone else left but Gemma stayed.
"Alaric, here is my makeup work from missing a couple days ago."
"Thank you, Gemma." Gemma walked out of the classroom.
Gemma went about the rest of her day and at the end she went straight home and started getting ready for the dance. She put on a pair of leather pants she had in the back of her closet and then put on a red corset. Over that she put on a leather jacket. She went into her bathroom and started doing her hair, she put half of it up and teased it creating a beehive look and then put a red bandana in her hair. She then did her makeup, she chose a dramatic cat eye and a bright red lip. She went back to her bedroom, and slipped on a pair of red high heels. She grabbed her cell phone and put it in her corset. She grabbed her keys and quickly left for the dance. When she gets there she sees Alaric, she walks over to him.
"I know your secret."
"Oh and what's that?"
"You secretly loved the sixties." he laughed. Dana and Chad come over and Gemma walked away. Gemma sees her friends and walks over to them, she starts dancing with them. She sees Dana up on the stage.
"Thank you for being here, everybody. We have a special shout-out tonight." they all move closer to the stage, "this is for Elena, from Klaus." a song stats playing and Elena seems shocked. Gemma couldn't help feeling scared for her friend.
"That was a lame, cheap shot. He's just trying to bait us." Damon said coming over to the group.
"I know everyone here."
"Maybe he's not here. Just wants us to believe that he is."
"It's a party, people. Blend. Let him come to us."
"Good idea." Bonnie said grabbing Jeremy's arm. Gemma starts to dance again but is interrupted by Chad tapping her on her shoulder.
"Klaus wanted me to tell you, that you're the most gorgeous person here and he can't wait for you to meet him properly." Gemma looked back at Stefan and Elena who were both staring at her.
"Caroline's here. She doesn't know what's going on. We have to tell her." Elena said.
"I'm on it." Stefan looks at Damon and leaves. Damon starts to dance with Elena. Gemma walks away and goes into the hallway, sometime late she heard Jeremy's voice.
"What's going on, guys?"
"You ok, Gilbert? You don't look so good."
"Dude, seriously? Wrong day, wrong guy." Gemma hears them all starting to fight and she runs to Jeremy's side and throws one of the boys off of Jeremy and the next second another tried to shoot her with a stake with a crossbow, but she catches it easily and it falls to the ground. She vamps out quickly.
"Let me guess, Klaus says hello?" Gemma grabs one of the guys by the neck and holds him off of the ground. Stefan comes around the corner.
"Gemma." Gemma looks at him and drops the guy on the ground, "they're compelled. Go."
"I'm sorry." she looked at the guy on the ground.
"Go find Bonnie. I have this." Damon meets Gemma out in the hallway and they both go to find Elena and Bonnie. They run into Elena first who has a horrified look on her face, Bonnie joins them quickly.
"What's wrong?"
"Klaus is in Alaric's body."
"What?"
"He's possessing it or something." Bonnie said, Damon looks at Elena.
"Go find Stefan. Now."
"Okay." she runs off.
"Can you kill him?" Damon asks Bonnie.
"He's got some kind of protection spell on him." she responded
"You have the power of a hundred witches. Break it."
"I'm trying! If I kill Alaric, he'll just possess someone else. He knows I have my power, Damon. He's trying to kill me."
"No. Klaus doesn't get to win tonight, no way. You still willing to do whatever it takes to kill him?"
"You guys know I will help however I can." Gemma told Bonnie. They go down the hallway and enters the cafeteria with Gemma beside Bonnie and they see Klaus, sitting in a chair with a knife in his hand.
"What took you so long? Ah Gemma, how great to see your beautiful face but you and I can talk later. Now, Bonnie, do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way? Bonnie breaks his wrist with her powers but he pops it back into place, "the hard way. Go it." he stands up and Bonnie breaks his shoulder, he groans out in pain, "what? you'd kill your favorite history teacher?"
"It's what Alaric would want. And he'd want you to suffer first." Bonnie's nose starts to bleed, Gemma put a hand on her shoulder but she shrugs it off.
"Look at you." she wipes her nose, "is that all you got?"
"Let's find out." Bonnie is fighting with Klaus and he nose starts to bleed more causing Gemma to get extremely worried. Elena and Stefan arrive and they try to enter the cafeteria but Bonnie shuts the door so they couldn't come in. Gemma gives them both a freaked out look.
"Bonnie, stop! Stop it! Bonnie!" Gemma yelled at her, pleading for her friend to stop. Bonnie looks over at Gemma for a split second and goes back to fighting Klaus. Elena screams and Stefan tries to open the door, Bonnie smiles at Elena and she falls onto the floor. Everything seemed to stop for a split second until Elena and Stefan open the doors and they all rush to Bonnie's side.
"No! Oh! Bonnie! Bonnie, Bonnie! Bonnie! Hey, hey." Elena yelled, she takes Bonnie into her arms. Gemma looks up and sees Klaus is gone, she starts to cry. Elena is crying as well.
"Stefan, stefan. I can't find her pulse! Stefan! Do something, please! Stefan, please! Just give her some blood, do something please!"
"It's too late. I'm sorry." Gemma couldn't handle anymore, she used her vampire speed and left the school. Gemma got home and laid on her bed and cried. She heard her phone ring, Bonnie's name flashed on the screen.
"Bonnie, I know this was an act, but the thought of losing you terrified me." Gemma cried more into the phone.
"Hey, I know Gemma. But it needed to happen."
"I know, it just sucked."
"I love you Gemma."
"I love you too Bon-Bon." she laughed and they said their goodbyes and hung up. Gemma got up and out of her bed and slid her clothes off her body. She got back into bed and quickly fell asleep.
