"Prove it"

I had a special surprise for her, that I knew she loved. Her grandpa helped me with the surprise. We sat in the limo that her grandpa hired.
"Close your eyes"

"Why?" I knew she liked surprises but she always tried to find out what it was.

"Please" I held her hand.

"Okay"
I slowly brought my head closer to hers and gently kissed her in the forehead. I nodded at her grandpa to let him know that we should go even though we had an hour till prom starts.

With sun bright and warm, we drove past a two story house with two children running through the front yard sprinkler. Smiles. Theirs smiles consisted of nothing but pure innocence. If Alexa saw this innocent sight, she would look at me with eyes of longing, she always thought of the time when her parents were still here and she didn't become friends with death. The children only reminded me how much I wanted to protect Tia from her dark cloud growing heavier.

"Drake where are we going?" She sounded impatient.

"It's a surprise" with her hand still intertwined with mine, I looked out the window and gave her hand a kiss.

"We're here" her grandpa sounded anxious. I'm not sure that last time he's been here, I'd be surprise if it was a long time because it is of course the place his daughter and her husband were buried.

As I opened the car and got out I slowly guided her still holding her hand. As I was about to check if the grass was dry, I just carried her in my arms and she gave a cute little squeal. "Don't worry I don't want to get mud in your shoes"

"But it's sunny so the mud should be dry" she moved her legs in an attempt to get down. She never usually lets me do stuff like this. She was a very independent young women and I loved her.

"Don't worry Alex" he grandpa saying that was ironic since he looked worried himself.

As he led me to her parents grave the sun was hidden behind a great cloud. When we reached their grave, her grandpa just looked at me with guilt in his eyes..

I put Alex down and as I told her to open her eyes the cloud moved and the warm sun juxtaposed her cold empty eyes as she read out her parents' grave: Alexis Quinn (Jan 3 1976-Aug 23 2003) and Damon Quinn (June 10 1976-Aug 23 2003).

"I am so sorry" tears fell down her eyes and all I wanted to do was give her a hug but I thought it best that her grandpa should hug her. Then she looked at me and I could see she wanted to know why I took her here.

"I thought it would be nice for your parents to see how beautiful and grown up they're daughter is"

"I've never been here... I always felt it was my fault. Shouldn't be here. I'm the one who caused they're death. Can we please go." She had so much pain in her voice that seeing her in this much pain broke me.
