Summer's POV
My mother opened the door and widened her eyes. She immediately pulled me into a tight hug. "Summer, I'm so sorry I couldn't pick you up. I can't believe you had to walk all alone." she apologized. "You don't have to apologize mom. Besides I didn't walk alone," I said, moving along to the side and letting Freddy greet my mother. "It's lovely to see you Mrs. Hathaway," Freddy greeted whilst shaking my mother's hand. "Well it's lovely to see you too, Freddy," my mother replied. "And I just have to thank you for walking Summer home. I was worried sick." she thanked Freddy. "You're welcome Mrs. Hathaway," Freddy replied.
I smiled at both of them. Freddy was extremely kind and gentle towards my mother, which I loved. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go," Freddy excused himself. "Bye, Mrs. Hathaway," he waved. "Take care, Summ!" then there it was. His zillion dollar smile. The butterflies in my stomach were set free. And they were nowhere near calm.
They were wild. And it was all thanks to Freddy.
I couldn't wait to see him at school the next day. But then... "Achoo!"
-
Mom tucked me underneath my warm blanket, not forgetting to leave a box of tissues on my nightstand. She took my television remote and placed it also on my nightstand. She excused herself to walk downstairs and fetch my dinner.
I caught a terrible cold. There were already snot-infected, used up tissues piled by my bedside. My mother came back in the room and adjusted my pillows so that I could sit down. She placed a tray on my lap that had food on top of it. It was some hot soup and warm, earl grey tea.
"Thanks, mom,"
My mother exited the room, leaving me to finish up my food. Which I did. "Mom!" I shouted. She came back upstairs and took my food. "Okay, Summ. Go brush your teeth and wash your face. After that, please get some rest. I don't want you to get sicker than you already are," she said. I nodded. "Goodnight, sweetie,"
I walked to the sink, brushed my teeth and washed my face just as mom had told me. Then, I hit the haystack and went straight to sleep.

Tomika's POV
Where could she have been?
It was already eight O'Clock and Summer hadn't arrived yet. I caught a glance of Freddy walking down the hallway. "Fred! Have you seen Summer?" I asked. "Oh, she's sick. She has a cold," he replied. I was puzzled. How could Summer not have told me?
"If you think Summer didn't tell you on purpose, she didn't. I know because yesterday I walked her home since no one picked her up." he explained. I scratched the back of my head. "You read my mind." Then, the bell rung.
-
School went by for what seemed like forever. Not having Summer there with us was terribly hard. "Freddy!" I heard someone yell. "Kale?" the blonde haired girl caught up with us. "Have you seen Summer anywhere today? I swear I haven't seen her at all." she asked. It was nice to know she actually noticed. "No, she's sick." Freddy informed her. Kale's confused look turned to a concerned one. "Really? Why don't you go visit her then? I'm sure she'd like some company." she suggested. To be completely honest, I agreed with her. "Hey, maybe we should visit her. I could bring her some chicken soup," I said. "Yeah, I guess so. Well, we're visiting Summer!"
-
Freddy and I decided to walk home before heading over to Summer's house. I brought along with me; my mother's famous chicken soup. It was sure to make her feel better. After a few minutes, I arrived at Summer's house. Freddy had already been standing at the door for quite a bit. "Hey Fred!" I greeted as he greeted me back. I pressed the doorbell until the door creaked open with Mrs. Hathaway standing at the doorframe. "Freddy, Tomika! How nice to see you!" she said, smiling. "Hi Mrs. Hathaway!" Freddy said. "You're here for Summer, right?" she guessed. "Yeah."
Summer's mother told us that Summer was in her bedroom, upstairs. We had each brought our own gifts for Summer. I brought her chicken soup and some hot chocolate -- well, in powder form of course. If I had just brought it along it would've been cold chocolate. Freddy brought her a bouquet of roses and some muffins.
Freddy's POV
Tomika and I stood outside Summer's bedroom before knocking gently on her door. We could hear a faint voice say "Come in!" we entered the bedroom and saw Summer tucked in her covers, watching SpongeBob Squarepants. Ah, classic.
She turned her head to the side and widened her eyes. I was sure she expected us to be her mother. "Freddy, Tomiks?" she squealed. She jumped right out of bed and engulfed us in a crushing hug. "Whoa, whoa. Slow down." Tomika said. Summer immediately let go and mouthed a playful 'sorry'.
"We brought you some food." Tomika said. She took out her bowl of chicken soup. Summer had an elated look on her face. Tomika placed the soup on a tray Summer's mother must've left in her room earlier. She helped Summer get comfortable then placed the tray on Summer's lap. Summer enjoyed her chicken soup through laughs. Resulting from our jokes and from SpongeBob. Once she finished her soup, she placed the tray on her dresser. "Ah," she moaned. "The only thing that could make this better; is well, hot chocolate," after hearing those words, Tomika had a large smirk on her lips. "I got you covered," she blasted downstairs and made hot chocolate and topped it off with marshmallows. Once back in the room, Tomika was about to give the mug to Summer, but then.. "Wait, I forgot something!" she stopped in her tracks. "Here, give this to Summer," she said, handing over the mug. I walked over to Summer. "Here you go."
Just as I was about to hand it over.
"AH!"
Uh-oh. I had just spilled hot chocolate all over Summer Hathaway.
