Zack's POV

Hold it, Freddy? I felt rather dizzy that Summer had just said, Freddy. I was beyond the word; shocked. But I was left even more puzzled after Lawrence said, "I knew it all along," I tilted my head. Lawrence seemed quite puzzled as well. "Don't you remember?" Lawrence asked. "Remember..what?" I queried.

I began having a flashback

Tomika and Summer were sitting down at the table together. "My brother's girlfriend says there are like a million ways to let a guy know you like him without ever saying it." Tomika said. "Did it sound legit?" Summer inquired. "She's a junior in high school and she DJs on the weekend. So yeah, she's legit." Tomika replied. Tomika pulled out a piece of paper from her book bag. "Here are ways girls let guys know they like them," Tomika read out. Lawrence and I stopped in our tracks. Well, more like I stopped in my tracks, then I stopped him in his tracks with my hand. "We're gonna miss out on corn dogs if we don't hurry!" Lawrence protested. "This could be the secret to happiness," I reasoned. Tomika mentioned that Summer has to laugh at the guy's jokes and find an excuse to casually touch his arm. "Yeah, maybe pull some lint of off his sweater or something," Tomika suggested. "Oh, it'd be the lint on Freddy's sweater."

That's right. So apparently, I knew all along who Summer's crush was.

"Oh, but that still doesn't explain why you were banging on our instruments!" I said, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

All four of them brought up their palms to cover their faces.

"Clearly she was jealous because Freddy was talking about Kale." Mr. Finn explained, with a 'duh' look on his face.

Oops.

"So, Freddy asked me to meet him after school. I thought he was going to ask me out, but instead, he was asking me for advice on what to get Kale for their anniversary." Summer told. Ouch, that must've stung her badly. "Kale even did the same and asked me for advice. I tried to sabotage their anniversary by tricking Kale into making him a garbage hat -- 'cause Freddy hates hats. But to be fair, we went shopping at the dumpster. Couldn't have found Freddy's gift there." Summer retorted. "But at the end of the day, Kale said I was a wonderful person who puts everyone's happiness before my own. And I felt like I had to live up to that. I just couldn't do it. So I swooped in and gave Kale the Dave Grohl's Signature Drumsticks that Freddy's been babbling about lately." She finished.

So this entire time, it had nothing to do with depression or abuse or any mental problems. It was jealousy.

I suddenly remembered a quote by Master Yoda from one of the old Star Wars movies. I believe it was Revenge of The Sith. "The fear of loss is a path to the dark side. Attachment leads to jealousy, the shadow of greed that is. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

He sure did bring a twist to it. Summer proved it to be true.

She liked Freddy, she was attached to him and feared losing him. After she began to lose him, to Kale, it lead to the feeling of overwhelming jealousy. And it lead her to the dark side; she attempted to sabotage Freddy and Kale's one month anniversary. But thankfully, she was a good person and left her journey to the dark side and came back to the light side.

"It's alright Summer. Jealousy is normal. Besides, I don't think Kale's fit for Freddy." I assured Summer. She gave me a somewhat concerned look. "Yes, that's true." Lawrence agreed.

"You'll be fine, Sum." Tomika said, patting her bestie's shoulder. "We'll sabotage their relationship!" Lawrence suggested. Summer's eyes widened. "No, please don't!" She yelled. We looked at her. "Why not? You're not the one sabotaging their relationship so you shouldn't feel guilty. Besides we're partly doing this 'cause we think Kale isn't fit for Freddy." I reasoned. "No, please don't. I don't want to interfere. I want Freddy to like me on his own. No matter how much it hurts, winning like that isn't worth it. It's practically the same as losing." Summer explained.

Little did we know that someone was eavesdropping.

YAY!!! NEW CHAPTER!!! I finally updated! I am so sorry for being inactive lately. I promise I'll update more often. Merry Christmas! I know it's late but I didn't get a chance to do it during christmas. So where I live right now is about 10:00 PM, December 31st. 2 hours till midnight. I'm so excited.
