SunWings
Description: orangey-gold scales, long skinny bodies, long wings and tails. Heads are spiny (like various species of dessert lizards) with any number of short or long horns. Small size.
Abilities: can run at a very quick pace, for a long time. Can withstand very high temperatures, are immune to all poisons/venoms, breath fire.
Weaknesses: Cannot survive in cold climates for a long period of time.
Traits: Calm tribe, not usually too involved. Very energetic personalities, commonly.
Queen: Queen Eventide
StoneWings
Description: Grey or black diamond-shaped scales. Long, tough teeth and claws for drilling holes in rock. Strong, muscular necks. Rough, very hard scales. Diamond hard 'helmet' protects from head injuries. Thick bodies and tails.
Abilities: Hard head along with strong necks allow the dragon to head-butt with great force. Breathes "plasma" (super-heated liquid flames), mainly for melting rock.
Weaknesses: Terrible swimmers, not the most agile fliers.
Traits: Thick-sculled and stubborn.
Queen: Queen Obsidian
CoralFins
Description: Aquamarine, green, or purple scales. Luminescent patches. Gills on neck. No wings, instead great sails used for swimming. Retractable claws.
Abilities: Incredible night vision, can breath underwater. Very powerful arms, legs, tail, and body for speedy swimming. Have a special sonar that can produce a certain frequency that will cause most other dragons' eardrums to burst. Also used for locating prey.
Weaknesses: fire, unable to fly.
Traits: mysterious. Stick to themselves, prefer not to make contact with other tribes. Often arrogant, but if you can get them to talk, they know just about everything there is to know about the ocean.
Queen: Queen Ivory
BloodWings
Description: Glowing orange eyes, black head fading to blood-red body. Uses wings to walk, lacking front legs. Large, powerful wings. Sharp claws, head full of horns, and sharp spikes running along the spine. Tail full of spikes. Forked purple tongue.
Abilities: fireproof scales (they live in volcanoes) and sharp claws for ripping flesh. Spiky tail for whipping attackers. Breaths fire. Very skilled fighters.
Weaknesses: water, weak swimmers. Easily outwitted.
Traits: Rash, "kill now, ask questions later". Think highly of themselves, underestimate opponents.
Queen: Queen Magma
TimeWings
Description: pale grey to almost black skin (no scales). Fluffy white mane running down spine. Ice-blue eyes, thick bone coloured skull like mask covering face and head. Large wings. Tuft of fur at end of tail.
Abilities: Breath fire, they have tough skin (rather than scales) kind of like a rhinoceros. Long tail with a tuft of fur at the end, concealing a deadly razor sharp spike. A few TimeWings can stop time for a few seconds, but this ability is extremely rare. Some TimeWings have a small amount of magic, which allows then to heal quickly, and control some of the elements around them (air/wind, water, fire, sometimes earth, depends on the dragon. Most master in at least one. Typically non-combat focused) they are able to make other dragons look over them (the "magic" works to make their eyes pass over them, that's all.) They can project thoughts into others' minds.
Weaknesses: Weakest tribe physically. Fire easily burns them.
Traits: Unfortunately, a large portion of the tribe are cowardly. All TimeWings are more scholars than warriors; the reason they have discovered magic.
Queen: Timewings do not have queens

Prologue
A TimeWing, barely older than ten years, was asleep in her cave. In the pale stone walls, a small stream trickled into a stone basin. The dripping calmed the dragon, made her sleep easier.
No one had come to visit her for days. She preferred it that way, after what had happened. At first, dragons had come, and tried to give her their sympathies, but she was not one for conversation. It wasn't long before they decided she was best left alone.
-----------------------------------
The council had gathered in the hollow mountain late that night, to discuss an issue long overdue.
The youngest and newest addition to the council, a reddish-grey dragon called Gatraik, spoke up first. "What can we do?"
"Indeed! What can we do for that poor young dragonet," a larger, dark dragoness began. "What was her name? Mika? Such a terrible tragedy." She fluttered her wings dramatically at this, earning several glares from other council members. "Our two best informants, lost in a misunderstanding between a few StoneWings. And now their daughter is left alone. And then Artica, missing." She looked to Granite, eyes wide and voice dripping with false sympathy. "Such a horrible, horrible tragedy."
Granite stifled the urge to growl and saw many doing the same. Gatraik did in fact hiss, Granite saw, though the old TimeWing didn't seem to register the discourtesy. He wasn't sure that she was even trying to be covert anymore; he wondered why she still bothered at all. Did she know they all knew she was faking? She must, right? Granite would never admit to it, but he had no small amount of dislike for the dragoness, Murth. As the council head, however, it would be improper of Granite to hold such an opinion of one of his subordinates.
There was never a moment that Murth was not trying to please him. Always stating the obvious, making everything sound so terribly important.
Now, this was important. But it was clear from the tone of her voice that she cared not at all about the poor devastated dragonet, whose name she had not even bothered to learn. Nor did she care for Artica, who could be anywhere. Who could be dead, for all Granite knew. He shuddered, and banished the thought as if merely thinking it would make it true.
Granite, who was the leader of the council, rarely listened to Murth. He could remove her from the council in a heartbeat, so why hadn't he? It baffled even him. Perhaps he was reluctant to let her go because he wanted to appear as a neutral leader. He wanted to lead his tribe with their respect. Maybe he thought that getting rid of her would cause the others to lose their respect for him. Or maybe all of her preening and pandering was just familiar at this point, and Granite liked familiar.
Maybe he was finally going senile.
I'm not even that old...
"We should just give the dragonet to another family, a couple who are willing to adopt her," remarked Basalt, an elderly male.
"Oh," he added, "and by the way, Murth, her name is Marble." Heads nodded in agreement.
Granite had always trusted him, for he and Basalt had been friends since they were a year old. Basalt had always been the voice of reason, but this time, Granite did not think this idea wise. He knew Marble through the stories her parents had told; he had always loved listening to the crazy tales about a young dragonet, who was ever eager for adventure. Such spirit for exploration was rare among the TimeWings, who more often demonstrated their thirst for knowledge in scholarly pursuits. He knew she was strong—one day she would make an excellent informant. But this was different. She would not do well at all in a new family - of that, he was certain.
As the other council members asserted their own ideas about what should happen, Granite was busy thinking.
"Enough," he said at last.
The room fell silent. All eyes turned towards the end of the long, round room. To the highest perch, where the leader of the TimeWings sat.
"I have an idea."
