The Substitute// Camren

Chapter 20

Lauren was for some reason excited when the bell rang for lunch. But in the back of her head slightly scared about Dinah possibly figuring out about herself and Camila. I mean they aren't that obvious are they? She'd like to think they aren't. Regardless she walked over to their table, the same one since 9th grade when she and Normani saw Ally sitting alone and sat with her and then Normani brought Dinah into the group as well, and to say they had incredible chemistry was an understatement. All the four of them needed was each other to pull themselves through anything. And Lauren was hoping that after senior year Camila would be able to be a part of it as well. She smiled to herself at the thought, situating herself next to Dinah, across from Ally who had Normani next to her. "Finally my green eyed girl is here, now we can talk." Dinah said with a knowing smile which Ally happily returned while Normani and Lauren shared a look and hesitantly returned it. "So we've been friends for the longest time, and we completely trust each other  with everything right?" Dinah started and Ally smiled placing her hand over Dinah's and looking between Normani and Lauren, "Of course D" She piped up and Dinah shared a smile with Normani before turning her head towards Lauren. "Right Lauren?" Dinah asked burning a hole into Lauren's eyes and Lauren swears she can see right through her. "Uh y-yeah of course DJ." Lauren stuttered out quickly which Dinah rose an eyebrow in question but went on regardless. "Perfect, why don't we hang out after school today? A good ole girls night." Dinah offered. "I'm down." Normani agreed. "Me too!" Ally said excitedly. "Lo?" Dinah asked and Lauren was broken away from her thoughts. "Wouldn't miss it. Why don't we do it at my house?" Lauren offered. "Awesome!" Dinah smiled in success. Part 1 of her plan was executed perfectly.

"So are we all going in my car?" Lauren asked. "I know I am." Normani said quickly. "I could go in the Jauregui mobile." Dinah said with a shrug. "Ally?" Lauren said getting the short blonde's attention. "What?" She asked with a small blush. "Ooo wait, are you talking to troy?" Lauren asked with a knowing smirk making Ally's blush deeper. "Yes.." Ally said and her 3 best friends squealed. "Awe girl I love seeing you happy." Normani said. "Me too, i'm so happy for you smalls." Dinah said smiling. "Actually, I want all of us to be that happy, Mani I know you're talking to Aaron, and I got my man, but who are you interested in Lauren?" Dinah said starting her interrogation a bit earlier than planned. "No one" Lauren answered almost robotically. "You sure about that?" Dinah asked giving her a knowing look as Lauren literally wanted to die right then and there but forced out a smile nonetheless so Dinah wouldn't be suspicious but the Polynesian caught on to it anyways "Yes" Lauren answered looking into Dinah's challenging eyes. "Alrighty then, guess we have to find you a man." Dinah said nonchalantly. "No thanks, I don't need a cupid." Lauren joked. "Well since you're the only single one, and these two have plans, we are double dating on Friday. "No Dinah I don't want to" Lauren groaned. "Oh come on!! Do this for me" Dinah pouted and Lauren was internally groaning, she did not want to because of Camila but Dinah doesn't know about Camila so she had to think quick. And Lauren considered actually just telling Dinah the truth for a quick second before dismissing it.

"I actually do have plans Friday Dinah." Lauren lied. "Really? What are you doing?" Dinah asked, and Normani came to Lauren's rescue or more like digging a bigger ditch for the green eyed girl. "She's going on a date." Normani blurted out and Lauren sent her a quick glare before turning to nod her head towards Dinah who was looking between two before fully turning towards Lauren with a hurt expression that made the cuban's heart hurt. "And why didn't you tell me? I thought we trusted each other?" Dinah question, maybe her theory was wrong but Lauren is definitely hiding something and she'd just verbally confirmed it. Lauren sighed before looking firmly into Dinah's eyes. "I do Dinah I promise, things are just...complicated." Lauren explained. "Complicated how?" Dinah asked curiosity killing her. "Okay listen, I can't talk about it here but I promise tonight all secrets will be out, I don't want to have any secrets from you anymore." Lauren finished with a sigh. "Lo are you sure?" Normani questioned, it was a pretty big, pretty illegal secret that she didn't know how Dinah would react to. Lauren was freaking the fuck out internally but regardless she nodded at Normani. "Yes." Lauren verbally confirmed. "Wait you know?" Dinah questioned Normani, who hesitated before nodding her head causing Dinah to scoff. "Wow" Dinah said shaking her head. "Okay I am officially confused..what the hell is going on?" Ally asked with raised arms and an eyebrow raised in question.
