The Substitute// Camren

Chapter 33

Lauren looked down at her hands sadly, it was about the fifth time she'd zoned out in the span of ten minutes and her friends were starting to really worry. "Lo, maybe you should hear her out, she has her reasons.." Normani said, wrapping her arms around Lauren's neck. Her best friend barely acknowledged her consolation attempt, and every passing day she felt even worse for Lauren, she hadn't been the same after being rejected by Camila a few days ago.

Dinah, Ally, and Normani exchanged glances, they knew they had to do something to help Lauren, but they didn't know what to do. When Lauren went downstairs to get some snacks the three huddled up to make a game plan.

"Guys, she looks like someone murdered her entire family, we have to do something." Normani whispered as Dinah and Ally nodded their heads in agreement. "Okay guys lets be honest...we all agree with Camila right?" Ally asked. Dinah and Normani shared a look before Normani hesitantly shook her head yes.

"We still have to think about Lo tho, she IS our best friend." Dinah turning to look at Normani then at Ally. "I just hope she doesn't do something that she'll regret out of spite." Normani said, falling back into Lauren's bed. "Like what?" Dinah asked making her way to sit next to Normani. "I don't know..." Normani replied. "I know. Something like agree to go to prom with Brad." Ally said. "I mean I thought he was a great guy which is why i tried to set them up by talking to his best friend about Lauren but, I realized that, Lauren belongs with Camila." Normani said looking guilty.

Dinah and Ally both turned to Normani with stern looks. "WHAT? What did you tell him?!" Ally asked slightly raising her voice. Normani put her hands up in defense, "Not much I promise! I just....may have told him Lauren was interested....that's it.." Normani said, whispering the last part. But that didn't stop Dinah and Ally from freaking out. Dinah smacked her forehead while shaking her head. "Why would you do that, you know Lauren had no interest in him. Even before she came out even I could tell she wasn't interested." She said giving Normani a look.

"Guys, listen, I know I fu-" Normani said but her mouth was covered my Ally who practically flew across the room to shut her up once she heard Lauren going up the stairs. "Shh, she's coming, act normal." Ally said. "Whats normal?!" Dinah panicked. And sure as ever when Lauren walked into the room she was faced with a really weird sight, Dinah looked like she was posing for a photoshoot while Ally and Normani looked like they had accidentally forgotten their kid at the grocery store.

"Is everything..okay?" Lauren asked with a raised eyebrow. "Totally fine, nothing weird to see here, nothing weird at all." Ally rambled. "Then why are you covering her mouth?" Lauren asked pointing towards Normani. Ally and Normani looked at each other before Ally removed her hand. "Uh no reason! Anyways, Lo, what do you want to do." Ally asked putting her arm around Lauren's waist. "Hm, i'm down for whatever." Lauren said with a shrug. "BO-RING. Someone come up with an idea! Like right now, because i'm hella bored." Dinah said standing up and off Lauren's bed. She looked around before shrugging and walking over to Lauren's laptop, thinking maybe there was a fun game to play.

Ally scrolled through twitter while Normani looked over her shoulder, and Lauren sat there, spaced out, once again. "GUYS!! THERE IS A CONCERT TODAY! WE SHOULD GO!" Dinah screamed, shaking Lauren's laptop infront of her friends' faces. "Dinah be fucking careful!" Lauren hissed, taking her laptop from Dinah and looking at the screen. "HOLY SHIT LANA DEL REY?!" Lauren said, instantly getting excited. "Ooo, Lo you love her!" Normani said. "Okay perfect so we're going." Ally said. "Wait, who's paying?" Dinah asked. "I'll pay, I have a good job and I feel like treating my girls." Ally said. "Perfect. I'm so relieved my car got out of the shop this morning." Lauren said reaching for her keys. Dinah put her hand on Lauren's arm to stop her. "Are you sure we'll be safe in that thing...last time we almost got turned into barbecue." She said giving Lauren a pointed look. "I'm absolutely sure we'll be okay. Come on!" Lauren said.
