When I land, I land on my feet with a loud thump against the grass. The impact of the fall nearly knocks me off my feet, but I manage to catch myself. I take one last look at the Davenport Family household before sprinting away with all of my memories. If I'm going to find Tanya, I need to come up with a strategy, and I can't use Tasha as bait anymore. That would be too dangerous and impossible considering how far away I've run off already. Maybe I can train myself and lure Tanya to me when I think I'm ready. I just need to figure out how to train myself. I don't know where I am. It just looks like I'm stuck in the middle of the woods. Lost once again. But I can't afford to be lost. I've lost too much already. I can't afford to lose anymore of myself than I already have. I did pack a bag of supplies, but I forgot to bring my cell phone and GPS, which would both be very useful to me right now. I'm so mad at myself. I practically tear through my backpack, trying to find something to help me find my way to Tanya, but I stop in my tracks when I hear a rustle in the bushes. I whip my head around. No one is there. But I know that I heard something. I may be crazy, but sometimes, being crazy is an advantage. You see things that nobody else can see. You hear things that nobody else can hear. You think things that nobody else can think. "Hello," I say. "Is anyone there?" No answer. Just more rustling. I ease closer to the bush in front of me. "I know you're there," I say. "Show yourself." I hear what sounds like a dog whining. I jump back, startled. I see a tiny, light brown, black-speckled tail sticking out of the bushes. "Hey," I say, softly. Suddenly, the tail is gone. It goes into hiding.

"It's okay," I say, gently. "Don't be afraid." After a few minutes of coaxing, a puppy comes walking out from behind the bush with its tail between its legs.

My heart practically melts at the sight of it. It has beautiful blue eyes and its fur is a good mix between black, white, and brown. It looks like a German Shepherd Husky mix. It doesn't have a collar, so it probably doesn't have an owner. "Hey, little fella," I say, once I get a closer look at it. "What are you doing out here, boy? Are you lost?" The puppy whines and I could swear that he nods his head. "It's okay," I say, softly. "I'm lost, too. You can trust me." I stick out my hand and let him sniff it. He relaxes a little. "Do you have an owner," I ask him. He whines and bows his head. "Well," I say. "Now you do. I'm Lyrica Mallard, and I'm taking you in, little guy." He perks up and wags his tail. I giggle and pat his head. The puppy is really good. He is very obedient and friendly, and is also a very fast learner. It doesn't take much effort to train him. He is very mellow and intelligent, and he seems to really like being around me. His personality also reminds me of someone I deeply care for. I decide to call my new dog, Genius.
