"Having this party was a great idea, Bree," Skylar says. "It really was," I agree. "Well, we finally get to relax since we don't have to worry about Tanya anymore," Bree says. Well, maybe not Tanya, but someone else, I think. "It's so nice to have another girl around," I say. "Bree and I need someone to vent with besides each other every once in awhile." Bree nods in agreement with me. Skylar smiles, "You girls really are like the sisters I never had." "Aww," Bree coos. "All right," I say, holding out my arms. "Bring it in, girls!" We all hug each other tightly, laughing, and crying a little, too. After chatting with the girls, I look for Adam and Leo. I find them arm wrestling. Leo must be using his Bionic arm, because surprisingly, he's winning. I sit on the couch and cheer them on. "Yes," Leo cheers as he slams Adam's hand down on the coffee table. "I win! I beat the strongest man in the world at arm wrestling!" "You did not," Adam says, embarrassed and clearly lying. "I let you win." I scoff, "Yeah, right. Leo clearly won because he deserved to win." "Thank you, Lyrica," Leo says, proudly. "Yes, Leo," I say, deciding to be extra nice. "You are very heroic." "Wow," Leo says. "You're right, Lyrica. I am heroic. And handsome." I raise my brow at him, "Now, hold on, I didn't say-" "I'm back, baby," Leo cheers. I laugh, "You sound like Donald." Leo rolls his eyes and Adam pats him on the back. I look over at the Dining Table to see Donald and Tasha having a romantic chat. My birth father and my adoptive father are having a conversation on the couch, and they seem to be getting along.

I smile. Then I look over at Chase, who is sitting on a seat by the fireplace, gazing through the open window at the night sky. My eyes fill with tears. In just one month, I'm going to lose him forever. I force a smile and walk over to him. "Hey," I say, sitting on his lap. I wrap my arms around his neck. "Hey," he says, smiling at me and wrapping his arms around my waist. I rest my head against his and run my fingers through his hair. "Are you okay," Chase asks. "You're acting strange." I chuckle nervously, "How am I acting strange?" He sighs, "I don't know. You've just been kind of distant lately. Then, after you time traveled, you completely changed. It's like you're glued to me now." I purse my lips. "I love you," I say. "I just...I just wanna spend time with you. Alone. Please? Just tonight?" "I love you, too," he whispers. "Yes, of course. Of course we can spend some time alone." He smirks, "Actually, that's a great idea. I have something that I'd like to show you. It's not here at my house. It's right next door to my house." I look at him, confused, "What?" He chuckles and stands up. "Come on," he says. "I wanna show it to you." I smile, my heart thumping in my chest, "Okay." I stand up and intertwine our fingers.

...

"Where are we going," I ask, as Chase leads me somewhere with his hands over my eyes. He chuckles softly, "You'll see." A few seconds later, I ask, "Are we there yet?" Chase laughs, "Patience." I smile. A few minutes later, he stops me and uncovers my eyes. "Okay," he says. "You can open your eyes now." I open my eyes and words can't even begin to describe the joy that I feel at this moment. "Oh my god," I whisper. "What is this?" "Home," Chase replies. "Our home." I look at the beautiful mansion in front of me. "Wait a minute," I say, turning to face Chase. "Our home?" Chase chuckles and scratches the back of his neck nervously. "Well...I-I," he stutters. "I mean...well...I've been thinking. We've been through a lot. I love you, you love me. I know we're young, and we don't have to do it now if you're not ready but...I talked to both of your dads, your real one and your adoptive one, and I got their permission. Now, I just need yours." I stare at him, my heart beating rapidly. "Permission," I ask. "Permission for what?" Chase walks closer to me and leans in, taking my hand in his. "I know that we're young," he says. "But I've never felt this way about anyone in my entire life. I know that...I have issues." I shake my head, "No. You don't. You're perfect." He chuckles darkly, "Nobody's perfect. I'm especially not perfect. My Commando App is still slightly difficult for me to control. But Lyrica...it's you who makes all of this...this fighting, this pain...you are what makes it all worthwhile. You make me want to be...better. You are the reason why I haven't given up on life yet. I need you, and I promise you that no matter what happens I will always be in love with you. I will always keep fighting for you. I wanna spend the rest of my life with you." Tears are streaming down my cheeks. It's everything I can do not to burst out into tears right now. My heart races as Chase gets down on one knee and takes out a small black box. He opens it, revealing a beautiful diamond ring. "Lyrica Mallard," Chase says. "When I met you, I knew I'd met my match. It was only a matter of time until we arrived at this moment. How it turns out is all in your hands. Will you do me the incredible honor of marrying me?"
