Kat gazed around at where she stood. To her left was a vast forest; its leaves the colors of oil paintings from a museum. A few owls fluttered happily in and out of the trees; soaring high above.

Before her was a small path that lead down a rocky, sloping path to what seemed to be a tiny village. A small castle lined the edge of the village; more trees filling up beside it. On the right was a graveyard, and a few yards away, a park that was deserted of all people. In fact, the only inhabitants seemed to be owls.

Kat frowned at the mist swirling around her legs, trailing around the area.

"Doctor?" she called, slowly treading over near the park.

"This isn't funny." As a sudden thought came to mind, she froze, tensing up.

"No..." Her voice cracked as she looked to the ground, trying to see past the horrible event taking place. Instead, she trudged over to a swing, and sat down; slowly swaying back and forth.

The Doctor was shuffling through the papers when everything abruptly stopped. The Angel, smiling, was standing alone. He didn't say anything at first, just looked at the Angel who dared to even set foot in his path.

"What are you smiling about, then? We all know you didn't send her back. You couldn't send her back. Do you really think I don't know?"

After a few moments, Kat stood. She ran out of the park and down the dirt path leading to town. Once she arrived, she noticed her observations were correct-this place seemed to only be housing owls. Curious, she ran ahead to the castle; not stopping even if she couldn't breath. She fled inside; stumbling to a halt at the sight before her. Large tapestries depicting owls and skulls lined the tall walls, and in the center back of the room sat an extravagant chair. Sitting in it was a young girl, younger than Kat by at least 10 years. The girl's auburn hair was plaited back, and had small purple flowers tucked within it. Her dress seemed to be made of feathers, and a small, twinkling crown was positioned upon her head.

"Hello." The girl greeted. An owl landed on ground beside her. Kat smiled half heartedly, approaching the throne like thing.

"Ello..." she paused, attempting to bow, but failing miserably. "I'm Kat."

"I know." The girl let out a soft chuckle. "I'm the ruler of this land, and I acquire to know why you've trespassed upon my kingdom."

She frowned at the so-called ruler. "I'm lost. My... my... f-friend... and I got separated."

The girl narrowed her eyes at Kat.

"Very well. Although I suggest you don't do anything incredibly stupid."

Kat nodded, turning back and dashing out of the palace. Contemplating every decision she ever made, she went to the graveyard, walking the row of gravestones. A small handful were human graves, the rest were owls.

She sat down towards the back, falling onto her back. Something poked her, and she reached into her pocket. Her hand grasped her phone, and a small glint of hope shined in her brown eyes.

'Doctor? Please; I'm scared and I don't like this.' Kat sent the message, hugging her phone to her chest as she curled up into a ball, letting tears roll down her face.

"Don't eve-." The imperial march sounded throughout the room. The Doctor instantaneously grabbed his phone's sonic connector. The screen lit up, reading from 'Kat'. The message read 'Doctor? Please; I'm scared and I don't like this.' "Well that's great. She fails to mention where she is, more work for me then..."

"I've gotta run, hope you understand. Apparently my friend has just gone missing. I wonder who possibly could've done that?"

He ran out the door with one sheet of paper and to the T.A.R.D.I.S. through the greenery. He didn't bother looking at anything around him, for he was focused on one thing. Getting Kat back. There have been too many mishaps, too many people he's left behind. The Doctor opened the door to the blue box and ran to the console. He traced the coordinates, and before you knew it, was stepping out the door and straight into a smaller more compact version of Earth. It looked the same, but it didn't. There were owls; too many owls.

The Doctor had three options as to where he would find Kat, if he could. The town seemed deserted and lonely. The forest was much too forlorn and ominous for her. He stared at the graveyard and park, contemplating where to go. Taking a breath, the Doctor stared at the two, utterly confused. No sounds emitted from anywhere, even the owls seemed to be mute.

He decided on the graveyard. Walking steadily up the dirt path, he noticed what seemed to be miniscule tablets wedged into the soil around him. Proceeding up the trail, the tablets began to decline in size and disperse more deeply throughout the ground. Bending down and removing his sonic from his coat, he scanned the ground intently with the look of a soldier.

"Adipose, eh? No wonder there's nothing left..." he mumbled to himself as he slid the screwdriver carefully back into the mysterious pocket. "That might explain the missing life forms, but why are there only owls? I can't believe I'm saying this, but Kat might be the only one crazy enough to figure this out..."

Continuing along the path and into the graveyard, he began to scan the graves and check the readings. Unsurprisingly, there was nothing to scan for. Every trace, gone. Quite interesting indeed.

Kat got up from the ground, looking around. Doubting everything, she exited the graveyard through a back way. She slowly made her way through the trees until she came to the park. Sighing, she padded over to the swingset and sat down, swaying slightly.

An owl fluttered down beside her, landing on the opposite swing. She narrowed her eyes at it, and in response the bird made a strange noise.

"Hello to you, too." Kat said, looking away. "You're quite small."

"I know."

Kat stared at the owl blankly. "Y-you..."

"Mhm."

"I'm sort of stranded here. My... um... friend left me."

"You can be one of us."

"Okay then..."

"Soon."

"You're quite scary."

"Soon."

"Um..."

"Soon."

"Shut up!"

"Spoon."

Kat turned away from the bird, starting to swing. "He'll probably never find me."
