Chapter 9:The Match

The day of the match against Aoba Jousai High came quickly. You had to make sure you were there to cheer for Kageyama and the rest of the team. You went to school an hour early to watch them do a last minute practice. The moment you stepped your foot on that court,Kageyama came running to you,and caught you in a huge embrace. Everyone else just smiled warmly,and resumed their practice. He let go of you and went back to his practice as well,while you watched them with amazement. Kiyoko watched them also,observing their moves,so were coach Ukai and Takeda.

It was time for the match,and they were getting ready. You quickly pecked Kageyama on the lips and wished him luck before taking a seat on the bleachers,which was almost full with Karasuno High's students,and on the opposite were the students of Aoba Jousai. Majority of the crowd were girls,probably Oikawa's fangirls. A few seconds later,Oikawa and his team walked up on the court. His fangirls screamed for him,some taking pictures, as if he were a celebrity. You clicked your tongue,which Oikawa somehow heard over his fangirl's squeals and shouts. He turned around,looking directly at you. You furrowed your eyebrows. Oikawa smiled firstly,then blew a kiss at you. You flinched, not saying a word. You could not stand him. Kageyama watched him,and tried to control his emotions. He had to focus and win. He had to.

The game began. Kageyama and Oikawa walked toward the net. "I'll show you,Tooru..." Kageyama gritted his teeth. Oikawa just closed his eyes and chuckled. "Aw,my kouhai is being adorable... But you can't beat your poor senpai,now can you?" he commented,in a childish-like voice. That just added fuel to the fire.

The game was fierce,everyone fast on their feet and trying their best to keep the volleyball up in the air. They were lightning quick,and it made you kind of dizzy. You closed your eye for a few minutes,rubbing your temples. A headache was forming. "Why now?" You said to yourself. The screaming and clapping from the crowds made it worse. You had to get out,and quickly. Your right eye began to throb again. You tried your best to make your way down the bleachers,getting pushed constantly which made you weak. You needed some air and space,so outside was the solution. You finally made it out,breathing in the cool air. It did not make your headache go away,but it did ease the pain a little. "I'm sorry,Tobio..." You mumbled. No one else was around,which was a good thing for you.

You sat down at a nearby bench. "I'll just have to wait until the match is over,I guess" you said,looking up at the clear blue sky.

About half an hour had passed,and you were growing tired. Your eyelid felt heavy,and was about to close it when Oikawa glomped you. "Oh,(Name)-chan,why did you run away? You could've stayed and watched me?" Oikawa whined,still clinging to you. You tried to pry his hands from your waist. "The blame is on your fangirls. God I swear,they scream like a group of banshees!" Your headache worsened. "Ah,leave that aside. Anyway,I feel that I deserve a reward for winning,don't you think?" He finally let go of you and sat next you you instead. "What?!" You exclaimed. Did they win? "What kind of reward are you asking for? A kick? A slap? A punch?" You asked cheekily. Oikawa just chuckled. "How feisty, (Name)-chan. There's no need to roleplay Iwa-chan. I was only asking for a little kissy~" he pouted and scooted closer to you,making you stand up.

"Where's Tobio?!" You asked,fists clenched. "Oh,you call him Tobio now?" Oikawa smirked. But that smirk wiped off his face when a volleyball was aimed for the back of his head,and hit him quite harshly. Looking in the direction in which the ball came,you saw a very angry Iwaizumi and Kageyama as they jogged toward Oikawa and you. Oikawa held the back of his head. "What was that for,Iwa-chan?!" He cried. Iwaizumi caught up and hit the side of Oikawa's head instead. He began to weep. "What did I do?!" He asked,trying to hide himself from Iwaizumi's glare. "You cause too much trouble! You're worse than a five year old!" Iwaizumi yelled. While Iwaizumi was yelling,Kageyama came to you. "Are you ok? I saw you leave the game early" he grabbed your shoulders,looking at your eye patch which you still kept on. "Yeah,it was only a mild headache" You said calmly. He pulled you to his chest,clinging to you tightly. He seemed to enjoy giving you his awkward hugs,and you thought it was cute. "We lost though..." Kageyama frowned. "It doesn't matter. You'll beat them soon" you smiled.

After Iwaizumi was finished with Oikawa,he just walked away,looking ticked off. Oikawa was still weeping,with a scowl on his face. He turned to see where you were,and was greeted by an unimaginable sight. He quickly ran to Kageyama and you,and split the both of you apart. You were surprised, where as Kageyama gave one of his death glares to Oikawa,which Oikawa ignored. "(Name), you can't be with him!" He said,pointing at Kageyama.  "Why? He's perfect for me" you said dreamily. He then grabbed your arms tightly. "Does he even love you? Idiots like him don't know how to love,after all!" Oikawa said harshly. That comment rattled Kageyama's chains. "Oh really now? What do you know about love,you player!" Kageyama burst. Oikawa was fuming. He was proceeding to give Kageyama a slap,but you went in front of him,resulting in being slapped straight across the face. You held your red cheek. "Stop it now! Both of you!" You yelled. They stood frozen,Oikawa's face still like a statue. You walked to Oikawa,taking his hands in yours. "Listen,Oikawa. I love Kageyama,and he loves me,he just doesn't show it. And trust me,he's perfect for me. I'm sure you're concerned,but there's no need to worry-" Before you could finish, Kageyama pulled you away from Oikawa,brought you to his chest once more,and wrapped his arms around your waist. "I think that's enough, he should understand" Kageyama said somberly. "Let's go"

He made you turn away from Oikawa,who looked a little confused. "But-!" You began,but Kageyama cut you off again,placing a finger on your lips. "Shh. Let him be"  "Okay... Were you getting jealous?" You asked,smiling. "No!" He instantly replied,letting go of you and walked faster,leaving you behind. "Tobio!" You had to run to catch up with him,and stopped in front of him,making him come to a halt. "I was only joking,you know!" You panted from your short run. "I hope so" Kageyama muttered under his breath. You heard him clearly,and flicked his forehead. His eyes widened in surprise, knowing that you wouldn't do that. "You don't trust me...again?" You put on a fake frown and decided to toy with his emotions. "Fine then. I'll go home myself" you turned your back,hugging yourself as you began to walk slowly. And without hesitation, he came to you,walking beside you. Snaking his hand behind your back,he pulled you close to him,so that your hips were against his own. "I trust you,(Nickname)! I'm just worried about you... Sometimes..." He said clumsily. You beamed with joy. "Sometimes?" You ask curiously. He looked ahead,blushing a deep pink. "Ok,all the time" he blushed even more. "Why do you look away? Look at me !" You demanded,and he slowly turned his head and stared deeply into your eyes. "W-why are you looking at me like that?!" He burst,face now red. "Nothing" you reply,kicking a stone in your path. "Really?" He asked,blush disappearing. "No" "Then why did you say..." "I'll tell you everything tomorrow, how I really feel. Right now,my headache is getting worse" "R-Right. And I have to tell you something as well,let's save it for tomorrow" he kissed you goodbye. You were both nervous and exited for your first date tomorrow.
