Laurens,
For you have only been departed from me for quite a small time and I am longing for you back. I long to hear your voice, I long for the words said between us, confessing truths that would be thought horrid and wrong by our fellow men. I miss you by my side, the feeling I was given when you were there. I wish for you to come back, but I know that it is not possible for you to. I once complained of you stealing into my affections without my consent, now I wish you had done so sooner. My dearest, Laurens I so wish for you to have never left me here. I long for us to have had more time together. This world lacks much of any good without you. I long for you back. I wish to see you again. Though, now you are gone, taken far to soon away from me. While it is true you have left me, thoughts of you never will subside from my mind. I selfishly hope that, just possibly, I was one among those of your last thoughts. I know without any doubt, that when it is time for me to join you, a memory of us together will be one of mine.
You are still, and forever will be, my world,

Alex set down his quill on the wooden desk beside the letter. He looked at the words he had written to his dead friend. A tear slipped down his face and landed on the parchment, smudging the neat inky cursive.
"How is it possible that you have left me?" Alex whispered, his voice shaking. Silent tears were now streaming down his face.
"My Laurens, how am I to go on without you?" His words were barely above able to be heard. Alex hugged his knees to his chest and buried his face. He felt small and vulnerable when he cried and didn't like it.
"Laurens," He whispered lovingly, "My Laurens, you are gone. I'm now forced to go on without you, my love,"
"I have so much work to do," With those words said, Alex took the parchment that had been softened by tears and a candle from the desk, and, with great sorrow, burned the letter written to a dead man, knowing it would be better not to kept it.
