"I can't believe you John, you called me down here, saying that it was an emergency, when you just wanted cotton candy," Alex said, walking next to a smiling John who hugged the the bag of cotton candy.
"Well, I ran out of money and wanted slash needed food," John replied and linked the two boys' arms. Alex took notice to this simple thing, John was quite a physical friend who did not see harm in doing small things like this, but Alex had been crushing on him for what seemed like forever. Things like that could turn him into a blushing idiot.
"Plus, you should of come to the fair anyway. Now you're staying. It'll be fun," John added. Alex looked around the fair grounds, seeing nothing but overpriced food, rigged games, and crappy rides.
"What could possibly be fun about this?" He asked.
"You know, you're a bit of a downer," John said, not answering the question, "you know what we should do?"
"What?" Alex replied, egging his friend on. John most likely had come up with some idiotic idea for the two of them to do, and that he might try to impose but in the end he'd do it. When with John, Alex would do just about anything to please his crush.
"We should go on that tunnel of love ride and pretend to be all, like, lovey dovey and freak out the homophobes,"
"What?" Alex didn't know how to reply to John. Did his crush just invite him on a romantic carnival ride? Yes he did, but he did say they would do it to, quote, 'freak out the homophobes'. It's most likely didn't mean anything, John would try to do this kind of stuff all the time with their other friends too. John really liked to freak out people who were against the LGBT+ community, seeing as he had always been made fun of when he was younger for being gay. And saying he was made fun of was putting it lightly, John hadn't told Alex a lot about it, but he could tell the other boy had gone through some tough stuff as a kid. Still, with all that in mind, Alex could feel himself hoping.
"Come on Alex! Let's go," John said, pulling Alex to the filthy beat up ride that shouldn't be considered romantic by most standards, but for some reason it seemed better than a candle lit dinner at a five star restaurant right now. Alex took a deep breath when the friends took their seats in the smelly cart while the woman operating the ride gave the two boys a weary look.
"Keep ya hands and feet inside the ride at all time please, have fun ya lovey birds," she said with a pop of the bubble gum in her mouth. She looked at them angrily when she said the last part. Alex saw John smirk at her and then he kissed Alex's cheek. John hung over the side of the cart to give the lady the middle finger then turned back around. Alex could feel his face heating up as he blushed.
"Did you see her face?" John laughed, placing his arm around Alex. He nodded, trying to conceal his still red face.
"God, I hate people like that. Their just assholes, aren't they?" John said.
"Yeah," Alex said, quietly smiling. He examined John's beautiful face. His freckles shone like constellations against his skin. His eyes gleamed with emotions running ramped.
"You know what I mean, mah bisexual friend," John said, squeezing Alex. He let out a small laugh in reply. Alex tried to keep himself together and not freak out as their cart approached the end of the ride. Above the opening, there was a sign that said 'kiss for the camera!'. Alex saw John smile at the sign.
"You know Alex, I kind like you a lot," John said, and before Alex could respond, John's lips were pressed against his own. Alex eyes widened, startle by this at first, but then he closed them and leaned into the kiss. It was a sloppy kiss, a beautiful sloppy perfect kiss that had Alex blushing when the two pulled away.
"I kinda like you a lot too, John," He said, smiling.
