"Awww , look at you two!" Mrs Jones cooed at us , as we entered the complex, hand in hand.
We just laughed, playing it off. After we had a talk with the parents and kids about the next game, Tanner suggested to take a walk.
"Of course." I smiled, taking his hand again.
Our footsteps stayed in sync, and each time someone passed I felt pride.
I felt proud to call Tanner mine. Not only because he was perfect. He was anything, everything I could ever want or need. I felt myself with him and that was rare.
"This is awesome, Williamsport, with you." He struck up a conversation.
"Remember when we were like 6 at T-Ball, and you bought me a ringpop." I laughed.
"You owe me for that." He laughed.
"Ok, sure." I smirked.
"I never thought we'd actually make it here." He said in awe.
"I did."
"How?"
"Well, because you guys work as a team, and you don't let go of your dream, no matter how big." I assured him.
"My biggest dream wasn't Williamsport, it was you and me. I guess that worked." He grinned as we made our way to the top of the big hill, over looking Lamade. He turned towards me.
"Thanks for not giving up." I took his other hand.
"On you? Us? I told you, never."
I just looked in his eyes, not because I didn't know what to say, but because I felt like I didn't need to. All we had to do was look at each other, and a thousand words could come from only that.
It was funny actually, his eyes never changed. He's looked at me the same way as the first time we met, with that ring pop. The same look, the look where he sees more than I could think of.
"What're you thinking about?" He asked, reading my expression.
"Guess." I teased, smirking.
"Me." He laughed, and we sat down on the hill.
Tanner put his arm around me, "I'm a bit nervous for my game."
"Don't be, knowing you, you're going to win. And if you don't, you're always going to be a win for me Tanner Jones."
"Thanks Kayla Oden, thanks for making my dream come true."
"Just call me a magician." I joked.
"I'm good with calling you mine." He answered.
"Smooth." I rolled my eyes, laughing.
"Kayla," He turned his head towards me, "Look at this place."
"Yeah" I looked towards him too.
"This place is ours."
"You're going to own that field." I smiled.
We stood up, in unison, with our hands still interlocked.
And, as the skyline of Williamsport outlined the never ending growth of the mountains, it seemed as the hundreds of people upon our eyesight began to freeze.
"You notice it too?" He questioned.
"How when we're together, everything stops?" I asked.
"I thought I was crazy." He laughed in relief.
"It's ok, I'm good with crazy, as long as we're together."
I touched my necklace, and looked at Tanner.
"Lets go get em." He announced.
And with a surge of hope, happiness, and love, Tanner Jones took me into the crowd of people, each one seemed like they stood for another journey. But together, we could do anything.
- the end.
