Mimi's POV:
Thunder rumbled outside my window, causing me to look up from the computer.
"Mimi? You still there?"Kacie's voice rose from the laptop, and I turned my head back to the screen.
My real name is Carli, but ever since I got my wings, I've lived under the name "Mimi Kumade"
"Yeah, I'm still here."I said, laying down on my matress.
I was in the middle of a videochat session with my best friend, Kacie Peters, who was also winged, but who didn't bother changing her name.
"Good. I thought I'd lost ya."She smiled.
"Haha, no, I'm not lost."I smiled.
She smiled back, adjusting her glasses.
BOOM!!
We both jumped at the loud crash of thunder.
"Damn it...I thought they said the storms were headed WEST!!"I growled, prepared to throw something.
"They did....Something's not right...."She said, putting her guard up.
"Yeah, I feel it, too..."I slid my hand under my pillow, making sure that my dagger was still there.
"AHHHHH!!!"Caylyn's scream echoed down the hall.
"What the hell was that?!"Kacie paniced.
"Caylyn!!" I exclaimed, jumping out of bed, grabbing my knife, and rushing to her room.
I got there at the same time as my parents. Well, my mom and my stepdad.
Don't ask what's going on with my dad, cause it's complicated.
Caylyn laid on her bed, crying.
There was a large blood stain on the back of her shirt.
My phone rang right as I figured out what was going on.
"We'll handle this."Mom said, looking at me.
I nodded, and walked out of the room, answering the call.
"Hello?"I asked.
"NNG!!!Carli!!!"Estrella struggled.
"Estrella....This had better not be what i think it is..."I said, disgusted.
"It's not that!! It's...My wings!!"She exhaled sharply, obviously in pain.
"My sister's are coming, too."I said, listening as my sister cried and my mom said calming words.
Estrella screamed, then the hangup tone blared in my ear.
"This is weird...."I thought, dialing Zane's number.
It rang for a while, but then the line eventually clicked to life.
"Now is not a good time, Carli....."He said, obviously in pain.
"Don't tell me--your wings are coming.."I guessed.
"You guessed it!!"He seethed.
"What the hell is going on..."I said quietly, before the sound of Zane yelling knocked me out of my trance.
"Where the hell is your mom?!"I exclaimed
"At work!"His voice sounded weird...almost like he was..crying?
"Then why the hell aren't you over HERE?!"I growled.
"That's not the issue right now!"He hissed.
"Hang up, I'm coming over!"I said.
"Fine...."Then the line cut off.
The screams of children from all sides of the world echoed through the night, as every child who had cast a spell at one point or another went through their transformation all at once.
Shifters went through their first full shift, Nekos sprouted their tails and ears, mermaids tails formed, and avians' wings tore through their backs
Our fates have become intertwined, and they can never be undone.
