"What?" Darrien screamed, standing up from the bench.

"Abigail opened her eyes too early and she was turned to stone." Payton said. "There was nothing we could have done."

"You're wrong!" Darrien demanded. "If your water whatever thing got to her quicker, she would still be here!"

"Stop it! Both of you!" I said, stepping between them.

"No! I have a feeling that Payton is the spy! Every time we lost a hero, he was there! If he didn't knock over the snow globes, Hallie would be alive! If he made his bubble go faster, Abigail would be here!" Darrien accused.

He turned to me with tears in his eyes. "Face the facts, Ariana. Either go on this quest or quit because I'm done. I'm tired of losing some of my best friends. So just quit while you're ahead."

He walked down the street with his hood up, not looking back. Payton turned to me. Then he turned to a metal trash can and kicked it down.

"He's right," He admitted. "It's all my fault. If I hadn't gone on this quest I-"

I looked at him with eyes the colour of storm clouds. "No. It's no ones fault. It's part of the prophecy. They gave up their lives just to make sure the Greek world is alive."

A hand clamped on my mouth. I ripped their wrist from my face, bending my knees. I sucker punched them and kicked them in the gut.

But he grabbed a bronze knife from his pocket and held it at my neck.

"What the-" I said. "Payton! Help!"

He stared at me with wide eyes, like if he tried to help I'd die on the spot.

"Let. Her. Go." Payton commanded.

The bandit kicked him down and grabbed my wrist. He led me to an alley way and clicked open a green device.

"Let me go!" I said, thrashing my legs and kicking wildly. I was about to go for my hair pin, when I noticed the green device glowing.

A green flash blurred my vision and we were gone.
