Unexpected Silver

Chapter 4

I can hear the footsteps of someone pacing back and forth, along with the incoherent muttering. It's been 15 minutes now, that I've been awake just waiting for who ever is the source of the pacing to stop. Unable to move, and becoming more frustrated as the seconds go by, I can't help but wonder what the hell that mutt meant by he's coming for me. I know I'm part of the largest pack, and I'm also the only female my parents bared, but what is so special about me, that has someone sending rogues to threaten me? What is going on? Although, I'm not worried. My pack is very strong, and has all of the best warriors of the werewolf world. Including myself, where I am ranked right under my father, the #1 werewolf warrior. Quite an accomplishment, right?

Zoning back in on the pacing, I let out a strangled growl to let the person causing the disruption I'm awake and annoyed. I can hear the intake of breath and the rushing footsteps to get beside my hospital bed, to which I presume I'm in. After all, I can feel the annoying, unneeded IV attached to my arm.

"Oh my god, sweetheart. I am so glad you're awake. How are you? Do you feel okay? Do you remember what happened?" Opening my eyes, I come face to face with my dad's worried eyes.

"Whoa whoa whoa, calm down papa. I am fine; I'm okay, but I need water; yes I remember everything" My voice horse from the lack of water and speaking. Wondering how long I had been out for, I go to ask my dad. Seeming to already know what I was going to ask, and that I was wondering about my brother and the mutt, he answered my unasked questions.

"You've been out for 14 hours babygirl. I am so glad to see you awake, I was getting so worried you and Jayden wouldn't wake up again.. Jayden still hasn't woken up, he hit his head really hard and flew through the window. They say that even his werewolf powers won't be able to help. They don't know when he'll wake up. As for the mutt, he got away. When they arrived at the sight, whoever the rogue was, was no where to be found. Just you and your brother. Aside from minor injuries, you're fine. Thank the mood goddess above, I don't know what I would do with out you or Jayden."

I can feel the tears streaming down my face, from anger and sadness. I cannot believe my brother is hurt, I can't go on with out him. He's my little brother, and if it weren't for that stupid mutt he would be okay right now. We both would be living our normal life, and not stuck in the damn hospital. If I hadn't let that damn mutt distract me, Jayden would be okay. This is all my fault... it's my fault Jayden is hurt.

I will find that mutt and whoever the "he" is that the rogue spoke of, and I will kill them. That is a promise. No one hurts my family and gets away with it.
