The Last Moreau

Chapter 3: Reality Bites.

I ran as fast as I could ͵too afraid to turn around. I ran a whole three blocks before stopping to catch my breath.

I was trembling with so much fear that my legs almost gave way.

"You know you won't be able to outrun me" said a voice

"Noooooooooo!!!" I screeched when I saw him suddenly appear in front of me.

"Shut up woman!" he commanded, his eyes having a deadly look. They were completely black now. They had a demonic look in them.

He opened his mouth to reveal a pair of sharp animalistic looking fangs.

"Don't worry I will end this quickly, nobody will ever know and you won't even feel a damn thing "He laughed.

My knees gave way and I fell to the ground weeping. No, this can't be How could this be happening I thought. It must be a nightmare...a very horrible nightmare.

I started to shudder and my vision became blurry. "OH no, now we can't let you faint can we? Im changing my mind .You should suffer the pain I'm going to give you and believe me it's going to be a lot" He sneered spitting on my face, having picked me up by the hair .I started to cry.

"Please let me go". He twisted my neck and I could feel his fangs an inch away from my neck as he dipped to bite it.

Just then he screamed and let me go. "AAAAARRGGHHH" He let out an animalistic howl.

"How dare you!!You pesky hunter, she will be very furious with you. Mark my words when she finds out you are involved she will hunt you down" He snarled before dissolving into a set of ashes. "He cursed. I didn't understand to whom he was yelling.My vision had suddenly become blurry.My ears started to ring.And before I knew it I fell hard to the ground.

Next thing I knew I was at a hospital being examined by a doctor who was murmuring that I  had extreme stress and had fainted and that he had written me a prescription of meds to take.

My vision became more clear and my eyes took in the person standing close to me.
He had deep green eyes with flecks of gold in them and an athletic build, high cheekbones and a mop of jet-black hair .He stood tall and had a slight muscular build. And his mouth was curved into a very disapproving frown.

But that was not what that got my attention the most. "You should really try to not walk alone at that time of night .it's getting more dangerous than you know" he said in a deep English accent. His voice had a deep baritone to it and maybe it was my imagination but it sounded like he was very angry. My suspicion was confirmed when he said "You are the most ignorant person I have ever seen, you won't be lucky next time because I won't be there to save you! "He said before turning and leaving.

"Hey!!" I said but my mouth couldn't form any more word's .I was too stunned by what had happened .Who the hell was this guy? Why is he angry with me? Why had he said I was ignorant and was what had happened really true? How in the world did this guy save me from that creature? So many questions began to form in my mind but to my disappointment he had gone.

"My god what a rude guy" I said to no one there. I tried to get up but I started to feel dizzy again. The nurse had come in and advised me to lie down. "It doesn't help that you have anemia either miss "she said. "Good thing your brother was there with you otherwise who knows what could have happened. You should try to relieve your  stress through meditation" she advised." I don't have  stress "I defied.

"Oh then are you going to tell me you were attacked by a vampire and that guy just saved you ?" the nurse laughed.

"I ........." wait a minute I thought. How did she know that? There is no way she could guess I thought and looked around and ducked just in time for her to miss me while she had lunged at me with a syringe containing something that didn't definitely look like medication. "No" I screamed and ripped the drips from my hand. "Oh my dear" she said her eyes turning a deep black. "Just stay right there .You need to take your medication" she said assumingly taking a step once more with the syringe .I quickly scanned the room to see if I could find anything and threw a plastic chair at her before running out of the room. The chair had missed her and she was gaining on my trail. As I neared the corner of the empty corridor I saw there were people patients and hospital staff .

I quickly walked my way through them when the nurse yelled "Catch her, she is delirious, don't let her leave... she is not even treated yet."

Two male attendants immediately were rushing towards me and I ran like a mad antelope in fear of being caught by them.

I took two rights and saw there was a small closet next to one of the ward's and slipped into it. The men had run in the opposite direction judging from the sound that was coming. I decided to open the door and make my escape when a voice from outside said "You know I can smell your fear from here Jennifer". I grabbed a mop and open the door and hit the nurse with the mop with as much force as I could. She tumbled to the floor and sputtered angrily "You witch!!" I darted past her and ran to the exit .I saw there was no one on the next street from the hospital. "Come on Jen think" I said to myself. My thought's immediately flashed back to that mysterious guy who had saved me.

It's been a good ten minutes since I saw him maybe if he is around he might be there to help me I thought. But then what if he had come by in a car I thought. There was no way he could have carried me all by himself all the way down here.

But nevertheless I ran down the road with hope. A quiet voice said in the back of my mind. "He is near". Just at that exact moment I saw a familiar head of black hair walking at the corner of the road."Heyyyy!!! . Please wait I need your help." I said as I rounded the same corner but he was nowhere to be seen. "What the ... "I shrieked .He had mysteriously disappeared. "Now now Cherie ..." said an evil voice. "How could you leave me like that? I thought we were going to be friends" she laughed and held the syringe in her hand.
