Next thing I knew I was awake in my room smelling roasted chicken in the air. Jo was in the kitchen humming loudly and cooking dinner.
I sat up from the bed and all memories of few hours ago came flooding in. He must have carried me home I thought. Oh no what would all the other tenants have thought. In fact how many people would have seen him carrying me before that. "Gosh this is so embarrassing" I said to my reflection in the mirror.
"Why is all this weird stuff happening to me? "I sobbed. "Why Jennifer?" Why do you manage to attract all bat shit crazy stuff" I said before being aware that I was not alone in the room.
"Um Jen dinner's ready. You better wash up before eating though"Jo said before giving me an incredulous look that looked like I had gone crazy. "Must be stressful at office huh? It's good to get it out of your system although I prefer you talk to me instead of the mirror next time." She finished."Um .... Yeah uhhh ... I'll go finish cleaning up. "I said and darted for the bathroom.
"Holy shit!!" I said looking at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like I just survived through a tornado. My hair was messed up at odd angles .My mascara had been smudged and left stains on my face and my skin was sweaty.
"Time to take a bath" I said
A little while later I sat at the table fresh from having fallen asleep at the bath tub. When I came around to, I washed off all the dirt not really paying proper attention as my body ached all over and I had been too tired .I had put on a print shirt and 3/4th white pants and sauntered off to sit near the table.
"So what's going on in the life of Jen"Jo asked while she served me chicken and potatoes. "You looked like you were hit by a car when you came home." "When I asked what happened to you all you said was work before collapsing in your bed. Frankly speaking you were disgustingly dirty and had you not been so frigging tired I would have hauled you and made you clean up." She sighed.
I felt ambushed. There was no way I could compete with Jo. She was the ultimate clean freak and made sure to make our apartment look like a museum. Should even a teacup be out of place Jozilla would make sure all hell broke loose until the cup was washed with dish soap ,dried with the dishwasher drier and put back in alignment with other tea cup's.
Her obsession with cleanliness is no joke. One time when she came back from her vacation to the room to find that I had spilled some juice on the rug and failed to clean it, she had made sure to make me wash it twice and send it to the laundry before we could use it again.
"You do know the rules right Jen? Make sure to wash your sheets twice and your clothes too. The first time usually doesn't get all of the dirt off" she said while taking a bite off her fork slowly.
"Hmm sure" I said. I reached to pick up some more potatoes but instead I pushed a plate off the table which landed with a loud clang.
"No issue's stay there and don't cause more damage" Jo said as she bent down to pick up the plate.
"What the hell Jen? Why didn't you tell me you were mauled by a dog" Jo asked.
"What?" I asked not really catching on. "Your leg idiot. It's scratched and looks like you were branded by a hot iron or something." she said.
"Huh?" I looked down to my leg to see something red.
I brought it up for closer inspection and gasped.
The skin had indeed been scratched and looked a very angry red. But that wasn't what concerned me most. As Jo had said it looked like some had branded me with something hot.The wound looked like it resembled two circles with a hexagon star in the middle.
Just as I touched it I felt searing white hot pain course over the wound and the skin appeared as if it started to glow as if it was on fire.
