Diamonds are a girls best friend

As I walk towards the man holding my new friend hostage, the elderly lady grabs my forearm to stop me. "No, they will only kill you too." She tells me. I turn to her and my eyes are pleading with God. What they hell is happening? This has to be a dream. "I have to." I tell her, with my voice exhausted. Again, she tells me not to go. I look back at my new friend, and my eyes tell her 'I'm sorry.' I look back at the elderly lady, and she is holding out both of her hands. "Hold onto me." She says. I didn't understand what was happening, or what was going to happen. The only option I had was to take her hands, so I did.

In a flash, we were somewhere else. I was in a home that smelt of inscents, and was covered in drapes and candles. I fell to the floor in shock. "What just happened?" I screeched. The elderly lady helped me up, and with her hands, told me to take a seat. I did. I rubbed my temples back and forth with my fingers. "I'm telepathic." She says, as she grabs a class of tea and sits across from me. I look at her as if she's crazy. "I'm a physic medium. I can speak to the ones who have left this life. Recently I discovered my powers are growing. I can now teleport myself from place to place." She admits. I was so confused at what was happening to me. Was I going crazy? I asked myself that way to many times in the past few hours. I wanted to ask so many questions, but I figured I should just shut up and listen, so that's what I did. "They took your friend, to get you. I'm not sure exactly why, but I know it has to do with the fallen one." She tells me. I didn't understand how she talked so casually about this, while I was going insane. "Who and what is a fallen one?" I ask. She looks at me as if I should already know. "A fallen one, is a fallen angel. Someone who was sent to heaven, but God shunned them, so now they walk the earth for eternity in the shape of a human. They are evil and only want to cause destruction. They are technically a demon. This one calls himself 'Dante'." Her words hit me hard, like nails on the floor. Dante was...a demon? Evil? Then my mind suddenly changes back to Emily. "What about Emily? We have to save her." I say, fast and bluntly. She shakes her head no, "We cannot go back for her. She could be long dead by now. This is exactly what they want you to do." She says. I stand up and slam my hands on the table, and some of her tea spills out of the glass. "I have to do something! If she's still alive, I'm going to get her out of there." I begin to walk towards the door, but she teleports in front of me, stopping me yet again. "Listen to me. We will save her if she's alive, but not tonight. If you go there alone, you will die. I need you to go home for the night, and get some rest. I will figure out some way to get her, I just need a little time." She begs. I let my shoulders fall, and let out a sigh. "Okay. What do I do if Dante shows up?" I ask. She pulls out a necklace from her pocket, and puts it in my hand. "Diamonds are a girls best friend. Wear this and he cannot touch you." I don't reply, I just make my way home.

I arrive at home and tried to be quiet while opening the door. It obviously didn't work because I heard my father call out, "Ashley? I'm in the kitchen, come here." I follow his orders and go to the kitchen. He is sitting at the table, looking very disappointed. I sit down next to him, and look the other way. "Where have you been? It's 2am. This isn't like you Ashley. Ever since you found out we were moving, you've been so distant, and you've been acting out." My father scolds. I feel terrible, and I want to confide in my father and spill all the things that have happened, but I simply couldn't. "I'm sorry dad. I don't know what's going on with me. I guess the move is just stressing me out." I confess. He hugs me. "I love you, baby. Get some rest. No more staying out til' 2am." My father says, laying down the new law. I nod my head yes, and head up the stairs.

I go straight to the bathroom and get in the shower. I run the water all the way hot and burn my skin. I kept myself in there until all of the hot water ran out, then I got myself ready for bed. I looked at the necklace the woman gave me, and contemplated putting it on. Instead I just sat it on my dresser and waited for Dante to show up. I knew he would. I sat in complete dark, and silence for almost three hours until I heard a creak outside of my bedroom door. "I know you're here." I say, directing towards Dante. The door slowly opens, and he walks in. He closes the door behind him and locks it. He stands there without a word. "What are you?" I ask, with fury rising in me. "You already know." He mumbles. I stand up and grab the necklace, keeping it in my hand. "I wanted a nice new start here. I make one potential friend, and you kidnap her?" My voice raises throughout my words. "I didn't take her. That wasn't me." Dante tries to convince.  I cross my arms, and my serious look stays stamped on my face. "Then tell me who did." He comes closer, holding out his arms as if he was going to hug me. I hold out the necklace, and he falls to the ground, and acts like it burnt him. "Where did you get that?" He groans. I kneel down next to him, and flip my hair behind my neck. I hold the necklace in front of his face and he hisses at me. "You're going to tell me where she is, and what's going on now, or I shove this down your throat." I threaten. I allow him to get up and compose himself. "I need to show you something first." He tells me. I roll my eyes. "Right, so you can kiss me and disappear again? I don't think so." He ignores my witty comment and holds his hand out. What was with everyone and hands? I grab it, and yet again, we sneak out of the house, this time through my window. We stand on the ledge, "I'm not jumping! Are you crazy?!" I snap. He ignores me and grabs my waist. I turn my neck to look at him, and I can see something coming out of his back. They were wings, long black wings. He looked like he was in pain as they grew out of him, then we took off in the air.

We land near the lake he brought me to before. He sets me down, and walks to the lake, and sits. I walk up behind him. "You have a lot of explaining to do." I tell him. He continues embracing the beauty of the lake. "I was 20 years old when I died. I went to a party with a few of my friends, and had a little to much to drink. I convinced them all that I was okay to drive....and we wrecked. No survivors. For me, there wasn't that white light everyone talks about. It was black. It felt like I was doomed there for eternity, and I was glad. I deserved it, but then I was brought back...but not human. An angel...a fallen angel. I was to spend the rest of eternity ruining the lives of others, and ending it to soon. Then I met Persephone...she was an obsession of mine. She was human, just like you. First I made her love me, then I made her insane. I killed her family, and her friends, and made her join me in torturing the innocent. Then I killed her. She was brought back as a fallen angel like I was." As he tells me his story, my eyes grow wide. I couldn't believe this. I didn't understand, and I didn't want to. "But as it turns out, her ancestors were gypsies, and they cursed me with a soul. You see, when you are turned into a demon of any sort, your soul is taken. It may have your body, and your memories, but it's not you. Now that I have my soul again, I'm stuck with all thoughts of ...everyone I hurt...everyone I-" I was done letting him continue, "Good, you deserve to live with that. Now answer my damn question, where is Emily?" I interrupted. He looked back at me and gave me a dirty look. "I'm getting there, alright? Persephone is very angry that I have gotten a soul, because now I no longer...crave her. I don't love her. She must have seen me with you, and now wants to kill you. I don't know why she sent her little minion to get your friend instead of taking you, but there has to be a pretty good reason. I can take you where I think she is, but I don't think it's wise. She'll kill you in a matter of seconds." He says, standing up. "There's a lot you need to learn." He continues, brushing off the dirt. "And I will, but right now, I have a friend on the line, and I'm going to get her out of there alive. Persephone is afraid of me, and I'm going to show her why she should be." My face tells him I'm serious and I mean business.
