G.Rose Point of View
I have never liked feeling useless, and that is how I felt now. As everyone was trying to get everything together so we could leave, all I could do was just lay on the couch and not blackout. I haven't felt like this in such a long time. The first time I ever had an episode Ivan wasn't even born. Over the time we had done some research on the matter, and it only took effect when using my shadow kiss abilities. Ever since then I hadn't had the option of using it as much as I did today. I haven't seen so much Strigoi as I did today. The only way we would come out alive was if I used it.
I kept staring at Lissa as she was some sort of anchor for me. She and my family were the ones that kept me grounded and sane. Without them, I would have given into the madness that brings from being a shadow kiss. But I was feeling my body was giving out on me, not for my liking. All I wanted was just to close my eyes in hopes that it would pass soon. But I was trying my best to keep them open.
" Stay awake, you hear me" I would hear Lissa said as she had my hand.
" I'm trying," I thought to myself.
My eyes were getting so tired that even with the constant fighting to stay awake, they had managed to close.
" Rose, Rose, open your eyes look at me" was the only thing I kept hearing.
Everything felt so still and cold. I would still be able to hear the conversation and sounds around me, but I only felt stuck. The only thing that came to my mind was my family. The first image that came to my mind was of my three kids. They were my peace, them three besides Dimitri they brought me peace. They kept me sane between my profession and what I am.
There was a lot of footsteps going in an out the room, so it was somewhat difficult to know who they were.
" Everyone is on their way; we checked the perimeter before they all left. We didn't want any surprises. We are ready to go as well. It's not safe to stay longer in a place so abandon. " I heard Viktoria say.
" Where do you suggest we go?" I heard Eddie asked.
" Omsk, It's not as far from here. We don't want Dimitri to freak out seeing his wife the way she is now" I heard Viktoria say out loud.
Hearing her say that her brother would freak out, only made me laugh. It was hard to see Dimitri lose his posture.
"We need her ability. Russia isn't the safest place to be at night. Especially in our world", I heard Viktoria said.
" So Omsk it is. Your driving then" I heard Eddie say I'm guessing to Viktoria.
" Let's get her in the car. I'll round up the guys" Viktoria said as I heard once again footsteps.
Everyone started doing what they had to do, and the footsteps continued. Then I started to hear someone's breathing close to me. I'm guessing it was one of the guys, even though I knew that Viktoria could carry a body. The boys would sometimes pamper us since Viktoria and myself are the only women in the entire guard.
By the sound that I was hearing, I would say that we were already in the car speeding away. By the speed that the car was going, I would only think it was my sister-in-law driving. She sure did like to drive like me, fast. I kept myself concentrated on the breathing of someone who was near me. The more I focused on the breathing, the more I somewhat felt my sense come back. As they kept driving, I start to gain motion in my hand. I tried my best to at least move a finger.
"She's moving; she moved a finger" I heard Lissa say quickly.
" It's progress" I heard from far.
As we kept our way in the road, and on our way to Omsk, I started to get a weird feeling. I had never felt what I did at the moment. But it was a feeling that I could recognize any day. There were Strigoi near and in a significant amount. It made me panic knowing that they didn't know. That it would be an ambush, which was something that we couldn't handle at the moment.
" Lissa!" I tried to say in desperation.
I felt them getting closer; I knew we would be a corner. I tried my hardest to move more of my body. Trying to get to them faster and try to alert them. But by the time I was able to have full movement, it was too late. By the time I was able to regain full body movement , I was already out the car and on the ground. As I was able to finally open my eyes all I was able to see were the stars.
" Rose get up" I kept hearing as a face came into view.
Seeing her face made my body react in wanting to move my body. I tried my best to get to my feet just in time when someone came at me. I don't understand as to how I was able to block the attack. I didn't feel at my best, but the strength I had was enough to protect Lissa.
" It's an ambush," I said low as I was trying to keep myself up as my strength was kicking in.
I extended my hand to Lissa, and she quickly took it. The Strigoi weren't a lot of the view that I had. They sure did work together to ambush us. But the question that came to mind, what were they after. They sure did make sure we couldn't use the cars as they were both upsides down. The guys were able to fend of where Lissa and I were, but we needed to get away quick. I wasn't in my full strength to help, and we couldn't risk Lissa.
" Fall back" I yelled as I was finally able to regain my voice.
The guys slowly started making a circle around Lissa, and we began to leave. We didn't want to cause more commotion because it could alert other Strigoi, which was something we didn't want.
