So for this chapter, I realized that I wanted to make a couple of changes, sorry for the confusion, and don't forget to comment and vote!
After I changed into something more comfortable, I checked the time. 10:30 only. Everything happened so quickly, and I didn't know what was going to occur next. I guess I needed to learn the ropes of this whole thing first.
I decided that from now on, I will try to focus on the good things in life, even if they are scarce, and accept that things have just changed a lot. I try to take a deep breath, but no air goes into my lungs. So I close my eyes instead for a while. Jenna and I walk to her house, which is right across the road from mine, and go inside.
"What exactly are we doing?"
I ask "We're going to my emergency room."
I have no idea what she means.
"Won't your dad hear us? Wait... do you even have a dad?" I ask
"Well did you ever notice how he was always gone when you were here? Hah, well he kind of doesn't exist. I made him up."
I wondered how she could've even come up with that.
"So, you just live alone in a 3 bedroom house?"
"Yep, no ones ever really questioned it, and I just made up his signature for school junk, but now it's not really gonna matter. You and I are gonna kiss this dumb town goodbye."
She had told me the plan back at my house, it was very well thought out, and I had no doubt she'd done it before. The first time she ran it by me, I thought she was joking. But, of course she wasn't.
We were to go to the cemetery in three or four days and dig up two girl bodies that were fairly young, then cover up our tracks at the graves. Thank god vampires can't smell. After that, we would lock the bodies in a bedroom in her house and set the house on fire by tipping over some candles with gasoline lined on and inside of the walls (I guess we would light the insulation on fire or something as well.). Then we would fly out of state and stay in a hotel until we figured things out.
I hoped I learned how to fly decent enough. Jenna had a fake ID and she said as soon as we get settled, I get one. Since we both look about 18, she said we could get away with about 22 or 21 on the ID for certain purposes.
She told me every 4 years, she moves, and for two of those years, she works, and the other two, she goes to highschool. When I asked why, all she said was that she liked to keep up with the new generation to blend in, and she likes to save money for no reason. I understand why we're doing this. I know that I would be in a very bad situation when my family came home and saw me, they would be confused and terrified. It would just make my life worse. It would be no use explaining to them what happened. I would be in a mental institution if I told them the truth.
So I had to do this.
I had to live far away for their sake and mine. In a way, I was doing them a big favor. I know everything will be okay.
When we reach the emergency room, I am stunned. There are weapons, two enormous safes, and bags of blood hanging on the walls. She walks in, and opens up the safe on the left. Inside, it is about a quarter of the way full of huge wads of cash labeled 10,000 dollars on each stack. I did the math in my head quickly. Each stack was about an inch thick, so if it was 1 foot high by 2 feet long by 2 feet wide, then multiply that by 10,000, that was about... holy shit... 70,000,000. That was how much she had saved over the years? What job did she have?
"What kind of field did you work in, Jenna? Damn."
"Well I actually stripped for about 8 years, then I overpriced my longboarding lessons in California for 10 years, then for 6 years I was a real estate agent, then 4 years a house cleaner, and 2 years a drug dealer with fake drugs. I had a lot of different names for the drug dealer one. Also I inherited quite a bit, then sold a bunch of my things as well."
"Holy fucking shit."
That was a lot of working. And considering she didn't have to pay bills, and she rented houses for cheap was quite impressive. That is some high quality budgeting.
"So what are we packing?"
I knew we would be able to carry things easily since we have intensified strength, so we could pack essentials and some extra.
"Um, well I'd like to keep the money, we can share a lot of clothes, so downsizing won't be an issue, but the most we can carry is a backpack and a suitcase for each of us, and we can wear a lot of clothes to keep luggage light. Also, I'm glad I got your dad away for a week, so we have time, but I'd like to get out within four days. We're going to pack tonight, and I'll tell you some rules since you're a vamp now. The next nights until the fire, you're learning how to fly. So before the night ends, we'll drive to the country house with all of our stuff and for the next few days, we can learn there since it's far away and spacious. After that we'll do the fire, and go to the country and gather all our stuff then skip town."
Her house in the country was actually owned by a person she knew who died, and she inherited it. It's really pretty there, and it's perfect for flying. I'm glad she and I are the same size because, if I took my clothes from my house, it would be suspicious, so I'm only taking things that are really important to me from my house that aren't obvious. Jenna walked over to a corner and grabbed two medium sized suitcases and 2 light looking backpacks. She handed one of each to me and we opened them up and start packing cash into the suitcases.
When all of it is packed, it actually fit surprisingly well, with a little extra space. We walked across the street with one empty backpack. When we get to my house, I walk upstairs to my room, I look around to find anything I might want to keep with me. I decide on 2 pairs of jeans, 3 good t-shirts, a dress, a pair of sneakers and a couple pairs of underwear. It's inconspicuous enough that no one would notice, and it's everything I need anyways. I'm wearing pajamas right now so I don't pack any.
When I get done with clothes, I look around and go over to my desk.
All of the Polaroid pictures were still scattered around, so I grabbed a few and shoved them in the backpack. I walk around the house to make sure I didn't forget anything, and Jenna and I meet up in the living room downstairs. I look over at the couch and see my beats there. I grab them only because I know I can't live without music, and zip them into the pack as well. Jenna looks at me and says,
"Well, I think I'll let you look around the house one more time. It's not like we can't do it later, but whatever. Meet me back at my house in about 5 minutes or so, we gotta go to the farm house soon."
She hugs me.
"Ok I'll see you in 5."
She walks out of the house. While I make a couple of run throughs, I just take in the atmosphere of the old house, and just when I'm about to leave, I hear something in the garage. I go across the house and slowly open the door and turn on the light. I look around and see nothing.
I sling the backpack over my shoulder. It was probably just a box that fell over. As I'm walking out, someone grabs me from behind and slowly hugs my back to their chest.
"Leaving so soon?"
Barry says onto my neck.
