Connor sprinted to the village, struggling with the weight of an injured Victoria in his arms. His adrenaline pumped through him, pushing him forward. He wasn't wasting any time with his sister.
He wasn't going to let her slip through his fingers. Not again.
Connor tightened his grip on his sister with the thought. He lost his sister once and he wasn't going to let that happen again. There was a medic in the village. They could fix Victoria's wounds and protect her. He would carry her back to the manor. There were a few people whom have settled there. Any of them could take care of Victoria.
Connor felt tears poke his eyes as he ran faster. He was scared. For the first time in a long time, he was genuinely scared. He was scared for Cha'Kwania. He was scared for himself. He was scared for the Assassins and the Templars and.... He was scared to lose his sister again. He'd didn't know what he'd do if he lost Victoria again. She meant the world to Connor. He'd protect her no matter the cost.
After much tripping and struggle, Connor finally made his way back to his village. Connor sprinted to the main entrance of the village, catching the attention of many of the villagers. Once they saw the blood dripping, they rushed to get her into care. He held the young woman in his arms, refusing to let her go. They forced Connor to hand the woman over, which he did slightly reluctantly, but he stayed close to her the whole time.
It wasn't until they were done that they allowed Connor to see her up close.
She was placed in a bed. Her faced was bruised from where Kanen'tó:kon punched her. Some swelling was starting there. Her upper arm and her foot were wrapped up neatly. She looked uncomfortable, but there was nothing he could do about that. Connor slowly approached his sister's bed, quiet so that she wouldn't wake up. He crouched down next to the bed and placed his warm hand against her cheek.
"I shouldn't of let this happen. This is my fault, Cha'Kwania. I could've beat him on my own, but instead in needed you to do so. It was sloppy and I promise I will do better next time." He whispered. He rubbed her cheek bone with his thumb and sighed, "This will never happen again, I promise." Cha'Kwania shifted under his touch. He glanced up to see if she was awake. To his dismay, she wasn't.
"Ratonhnhake:ton? Clan Mother wants to speak with you."

I was startled awake by a vicious nightmare. Sweat beaded on my forehead and a pain ripped through me. From my shoulder down to my calf was a splitting pain that was unbearable. I released a loud, pain filled groan as I fell back on to the bed.
Slowly, the fight recollected. Connor being choked. Me taking over. My arm being sliced. My leg being torn. I shivered. Where was Connor?
The door opened, causing me to swing around. Connor was standing in the doorway. "Ratonhnhaké:kon!" I cried, wincing at the pain. He rushed over to my side and reached out for my hand, "Cha'Kwania." "Where am I?" I asked. He squeezed my fingers and sighed, "Home." He whispered.
"Is he-?" I cut myself off. Connor's eyes widened, but he nodded. I dropped my head back. Kanen'tó:kon was dead. It was my fault.
As if Connor could read my mind, he shook his head, "This isn't your fault, Cha'Kwania. It was Lee. He fed Kanen'tó:kon lies. Made him believe that we were his enemy." He explained. I reached up, squeezing my eyes shut, then covered the eye facing away from Connor. Warm tears flowed down my cheeks.
Connor's breathing became ragged as he dropped his head on to my pillow. We were both releasing sad tears. After a minute, I growled, "We can't let this happen another time!" I sat up, fighting the pain. "You can't move." Connor said, worried. I shook my head, refusing to listen. "I need to tell you something." I paused. I had ensnared Connor's full attention, "It's about Haytham." Connor stared.
"Haytham... he wants me to be a Templar... and after he discovered he was my father... he tried to earn my trust. He tried to get me to be loyal to him..." Connor stared at me, eyes wide in disbelief. "At first.... I was really considering it." I paused, wincing at the pain in my head. "But now, I know who I am loyal to." Connor reached out, gently pinching my chin between his thumb and index finger. "I am loyal to you, Ratonhnhaké:ton. I always have been. I am loyal to no Creed or Order. Though I will defend the Creed, if I must, then I will leave."
Connor reached out to cup my cheeks with both of his hands. "I love you, Cha'Kwania." He whispered. My jaw dropped, not expecting such affection from my brother. But, I took a breath, calming my nerves.
"I love you too."

I slowly stood from my bed within the manor, my leg weak from the time I spent off of it. No one was home at the moment. I was here, by myself. I glanced over to the closet, where my new black and red coat hung. I smiled to myself. It was a nice fit.
I limped over to the door and leaned against it, taking a moment to lift my aching leg off of the ground. I could see my bandage, wrapped neatly around what was the top of my ankle. It hurt like hell.
I placed my foot down on to the wooden floor and limped out of the doorway and down the stairs, using the walls as support. Suddenly, halfway through the hall, my injured leg buckled under my weight.
I released an agonizing cry as I fell to my knees. Pain ripped throughout my leg and caused me to lean against the wall, hugging my leg. I heard a knock at the door, then it opened. "Dear, what occurred? I heard you scream." A woman walked in. She saw me and rushed to my side. The woman stepped over me and bent down to examine.
"What happened?" She asked. I gripped my knee tightly as I spoke, explaining how I was walking and fell. She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, another voice spoke, "Isn't that horrible for someone like you?" I turned my head to find a large man smirking.
He was the lumber man.
"I'll get you to the doctor, Miss Victoria." He said, bending over and lifting me off of the ground. "Thank you." "No need. We're a family now, thanks to you. We keep each other safe."

Cha'Kwania coughed out some dirt that had gotten in her mouth. Mr. Kenway scowled, "Your people are fine. We have not harmed them. We do not even know where they are." He said. She looked up and, in a moment of adrenaline, she pushed off of the ground and ran towards her village. They didn't follow her. When she got close enough to see it, she froze. Her village was ablaze. So instead of making sure everyone was okay, she ran the opposite way.

Hello Wattpad Land!
I am sorry that this is so short. It wasn't meant to be a long chapter. But I was hoping it'd be longer. This chapter isn't even 1300 words. Sorry about that.
Oh, and there are only five more chapters left.
😐
Until next time...
