I hopped from the roof of one building to the other, my target waiting up ahead. I was to meet with Connor and Haytham in their search for Church. I was slow in my pursuit, not eager to see Haytham or Connor again after what happened a few days ago. I had left Haytham without a word to either man. Connor must be worried. Many thoughts flew through my head.
Was it going to be awkward now that Haytham knows I am his daughter?
Will our interaction be different?
Will Connor act different?
I hoped not. None of this should change our relationship. Although, I must admit this to myself before I see him again. I loved Haytham. Not like, father/daughter type of love, but as in... lovey lovey kissy kissy... does that make sense? No, of course it doesn't. It doesn't sense how I could love a Templar. My enemy! Can't something normal happen in my life for once?
No. I am an Assassin. This is my job. This is my life. Nothing about this will ever be normal.
I dropped from the rooftop, my hand catching hold on to the ledge. I quickly made my way down to the ground, where I embraced the feeling of the stone bricks underneath my feet. It was comforting to be on a surface that I knew I was not about to fall off and to my possible doom.
I looked to the street, and the building on the other side of it. It was a large building, most likely took a few years to build. It resembled the structure of a barn. Several different men, guards, stood in front of the doors. That was most likely why we were here.
A voice caught me off guard, along with a hand running up my spine, "About time you showed up Victoria." Haytham whispered into my ear. I growled before turning around and snatching his collar, "Where is my brother?" I hissed. Haytham smirked at my futile attempt to intimidate him. He grabbed my wrist and spun me around, facing away from him. "He is off looking for the appropriate dress wear for the occasion."
I shook my head, annoyed. "What have you got us into this time?" "We must get into that building," He pointed to the barn, "That is where Church is hiding." "And why must Connor get an outfit?" "Because..." Haytham spun me back around, "... they'll recognize us, but not him. He must put those acting skills to use. I hope he acquired a good a skill as you." A small blush trailed down my face, "T-Thank you. That is flattering, but I do not see me as the performer type." "Trust me, you'd make a very good actress."
Haytham let me go, spinning me back around. I growled. "See! You are very good at hiding your anger!" "You are the most-!" I stopped in my tracks when I saw a figure approaching us. I smiled when his features became clear.
It was Connor.
Connor smiled when he saw me. He approached me and engulfed me with a hug, which I returned. "It has been a few days." He whispered, pulling back. I gave a sad smile and then frowned shortly after, "I was telling the truth." I whispered back at him. Haytham broke us apart and turned to Connor. "That should suffice. Follow me." He said, gesturing to Connor's outfit. He grabbed my arm and pulled me in front of him, towards the barn.
He looks jealous! Is he jealous?
A guard approached us, holding his hand up, "Hold strangers! You tread on private property. What business have you here?" Haytham tightened his grip on my wrist, "The Father of Understanding guides us." The guard pointed to Haytham and I, saying, "You two, I recognize." He pointed to Connor, "Not the savage." "He is my son." Haytham responded quickly and without hesitation. "Tasted of the forest's fruits, did you? Off you go, then." The guard shuffled us through the first door.
