Sophie POV
I was a little embarrassed. I couldn't believe James had just kissed me in the hallway and I had been so dazed I didn't say anything. I just let him kiss me. It had been sweet though... No. I couldn't let myself get so swept off my feet by him. Sure he was sweet and hot and cool and smart and the boy I'd been crushing on for months, but, we needed to take it slow. No more kissing in the hall and touching, well, we could hold hands, and hug, and maybe kiss sometimes, or more than that. "Ughhh," I groaned, trying to get control of the part of me that had been waiting for James and wanted to just do everything and feel a real kiss, and go to a party with a boyfriend, and...
"Hey Soph," James called from down the hall.
"Hey," I called back weakly, not wanting him to walk up and show everyone we were an item.
He walked up smiling. Well, so much for keeping it a secret. And he looked like a big doofus with his goofy smile. But he was cute. Stop it Sophie. I thought. Get ahold of yourself, you can't just melt every time you see James.
"How was your first period?" He asked sweetly.
"Great," I answered. People were looking, this would be all over the school by lunch, unless it already was thanks to our PDA this morning.
He looked awkwardly at my hand then me, as if asking if he could hold it. I was about to shake my head no, then I shrugged and nodded. He smiled and took my hand. What the heck, right? I finally had a boyfriend.Noah POV
Gwen was my girlfriend, I think. Finally. Jeez, I waited a while to ask her out. I'm sure she knew I liked her. All those times she caught me staring at her. And when Sophie caught me, and Drew. She was an amazing girl though. Pretty, smart, funny, nice. I honestly didn't know why she didn't already have a boyfriend. Right now I was sitting on my couch, bored out of my mind. I texted Gwen.
Hey. Wanna come over? We can watch a movie or something.
It only took her a minute to reply.
Sure. When?
Idk, I answered, whenever.
Ok, be there in 10, she said.
The truth was, I needed to find out what Gwen wanted from me, a homecoming date, a boyfriend, to make someone jealous? I just needed to be clear, because I truly liked her, and I didn't want to just be a fling.
*when Gwen arrives*
"Hey," I said.
"Hi," she answered, "what are we going to do?"
"Do you want to watch a movie?" I asked.
"Sure," she smiled.
Gwen pressed herself into my side as the evil wizard popped out from behind a wall and fired a spell.
I smiled and put my arm around her. She snuggled into me more and laid her head in my shoulder. We stayed that way got the rest of the movie. When it ended she turned off the TV and looked at me, she grinned, "So, why did you really invite me over? You don't seem like the type of guy that usually spends his Saturday afternoons snuggling through a Harry Potter movie."
"I wanted to talk," I said. "I need to know what we, are, I guess. I don't want to tell people you're my girlfriend and find out I'm just your beginning of the year fun."
She looked at me calmly, "Well, what do you want us to be?" She asked.
"I think you're awesome," I blushed a little. "You're nice and sweet and fun, I've been trying to make you my girlfriend for months," I paused, "you know what I want, so I guess it's up to you now."
"I think," she looked up at me, "that I'd like to be your girlfriend."
I smiled and she did too. I'd never seen Gwen look so sincere, only as the girl who never stopped bouncing.
She leaned in and gave me a small kiss, then she snuggled back into my arms and we sat, comfortable in our happy silence.
