Fred
After taking my classes from Bryan I was sitting with Lucy in the classroom. She was cuddling beside me and I couldn't stop panicking about the meeting tonight. How could she be so calm? I'm going to meet her parents!! She should be worried sick.
Nevertheless I paid attention to my concerns. I will do exactly as Bryan had said. Just a little air of nobility and ease around me and I'll be in their good books.
School ended in a jiffy. And I was here in my room, on my bed, thinking about the most dreaded moment of my life. I mean, come on, I am pretty nervous. Who wouldn't be? It was my first meeting with my girlfriend's parents.
I had to arrive there at eight o'clock and right now it was five o'clock. Time seems to be enjoying my plight as it is deliberately moving fast.
"What have you got against me?" I said.
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
"Why can't you go slow?"
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
"Urgh! Fine. Do what you want. I won't say anything!"
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
I thought it was better to get on with the rehearsals rather than fighting the clock.
So I stood in front of the mirror and straightened my slouched shoulders. I firmed my body and plastered a smile on my face.
"Hello, good evening Mrs. Force." I greeted Lucy's imaginary mother.
"Mr. Force." I nodded and shook my hand with an imaginary Mr. Force.
"It's not good. I look like a chicken. Try again." I muttered to myself.
This went on for a while. I would greet the imaginary Forces and I would sound freaked out. After about fifteen to twenty tries could I gain some confidence and calm. And if this was my situation in front of the mirror, what would I do in front of the real Forces. I glimpsed at the clock, quarter to seven. Oh, I have to get ready.
It's a half-hour ride to Lucy's house. And I was perfectly ready by quarter past seven. I glanced at myself in the mirror. Well, I looked...civilised. I mean, I looked decent and smart. The tuxedo did it's bit. Thanks buddy. I mentally thanked Bryan and the tuxedo.
I grabbed the car keys and waved my Mom who was happier than me and also worried more than me. It was a peaceful ride and I soothed and calmed my mind listening to some old, romantic songs. Till the time I reached my destination it was five minutes to eight. I had even bought flowers and sweets for my interviewers of the night.
I pulled in the driveway. My long awaited moment had arrived. I collected my things and got out of the car. I climbed the stairs and stood on the porch. I took a deep breath and rang the bell. Lucy opened the door. She wore a black knee length dress with a halter neck which allowed a little cleavage. Behind her I saw her father and mother.
