Ashley
It's Wednesday today! This was the thought that came to my mind first thing, in the morning. I was still on my bed, under the covers thinking about what classes I could miss today.
Calculus? Nah!
English AP? Neverr!!
French? Maybe.
Chemistry? Of course not! This wasn't doing any good, I had to attend all my classes. I couldn't skip any. So I got off the bed, showered up, picked out a minty-green skirt to go with my black off-shoulder top and pulled up my hair in a messy braid. I applied a little makeup, lined my eyes and yes I was ready to go.
I rushed down to the breakfast table and saw a beautifully decorated and delicious-looking, as well, plate of scrambled eggs and bacon. I glanced towards the kitchen and saw Edward cooking.
"Did you make this?" I asked curiously as I sat at the breakfast table.
"Yeah." he said in a tone like he didn't care much.
"Are they for me?"
"Yeah." I was about to happily put the spoonful into my mouth when it struck me.
"Did you do something that you shouldn't have done?" I asked. Although he was already taking drugs and all, there are a lot of other things too that you shouldn't do.
"Will you just shut up and eat?!" he sounded irritated.
"Sure." I said rolling my eyes.
He came and sat opposite me with another plate of scrambled eggs and took a deep sigh. I knew he wanted to tell me something. So I looked up and met his eyes with an inquisitive look on my face.
"I want to tell you something." he began.
"I guessed that much." I deadpanned.
"Being a smartass, aren't you?" he chuckled. It had been so long since I had heard him laugh or laughed with him, that it brought a smile to my face.
"So what's the matter?" I asked and he became just as serious and nervous as before.
"I-I know that you both want to send me to a rehab-" he said in one breath. I was shocked for a moment but then regained my composure. This wasn't something Edward should have known. It was a secret and we were only pondering over it.
"-and it's perfectly fine. I know I deserve it."
"No, Ed. We were just trying to help you. We can't see you like this. You know how much we love you."
"I know. And I was thinking ab-"
"What? Please don't leave the house. I'm sor-"
"Let me finish, Ash. I was thinking about...about leaving all this shit."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I know that I'll be difficult for me and sometimes you all may feel like beating me up but I don't want Mom to look at me with disgust. I'll try, Ash. I'll try my very best." I was moved. This wasn't something I was expecting and hearing him utter these words was the best thing. I couldn't have asked for more from Edward. I was so overwhelmed that my eyes welled up. I got up from my seat, went towards Ed and hugged him. At first, it was awkward but when he stood up, he enclosed me in a bear-hug.
"I love you, Edward! You're the best!" I said through my tears.
"I love you too, baby girl!" he said and gave me a peck on my cheek.
"Oh my, my! What a scene! Mind if I join you two?" Dad said, more chirpy than usual.
"Daaad!! Of course!!" I said in a duh tone like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He joined the both of us and our heads touched each other's. We looked at the ground and I said, "Dad you know tha-"
"Yeah! I know. My son told me a while ago." I smiled looking at Edward hearing the my son statement.
"So, I'mma gonna go 'cause I don' wanna get late tuh school!"
"What happened to your accent?" Ed teased.
"Well, I thought I could work on changing something too!!" I piped in. Both Dad and Ed laughed at my insanity. I pouted my lips and hurriedly ate my breakfast. I turned around and started walking towards the door.
"Don't you think you're forgetting something?"
"Who, meh?" I turned around and saw Ed with my school bag and a smirk on his face. I glared at him and he defeated, threw the bag towards me. I swung it on one shoulder and walked out of the door.
"Ta-dum! Ta-dum! I'mma goin', see ya!" I put on the fake accent.
"Stupid girl!" I heard Ed mumble.
"I heard dat!" I shouted back.
"I know!" he winked when I turned towards him. Rolling my eyes, I drove off to the school.
I was already pretty late so I grabbed my books from my locker and rushed to my Calculus lecture.
