Dinner and Everyone

The man led me out of the room and sat me in a kitchen, just round the corner.

"Would you like something more to eat?" He asked.
I nodded. "Yes please."
He smiled and turned to the cupboards, where he pulled out a packet of spaghetti and some mayonnaise.
He looked out of a window at the front of the house, seeing Daryl, the other man who had helped me in the woods.
He jogged to the front door and grabbed his attention.
"Hey Daryl. Got that chicken ready yet? I'm making dinner for our new resident." He said.
I heard a muffled reply and soon had the man back in my sights.
I couldn't remember his name for the life of me...
"I'm really sorry to ask this, I probably should have earlier... But what is your name? I've been wracking my brain since I woke up but simply can't remember..." I gave a nervous chuckle.
He returned the chuckle, but in a much more humoured manner.
"It's Rick. Rick Grimes." He smiled.
I nodded. "Nice to meet you, Rick. Again..."
He laughed and gave me a rather pleasantly chilling open-mouthed smile.
"It's nice to meet you too, Quinn." He replied, just as Daryl came in with a large chicken.
"There may be a few feathers left on it, but just pluck them as you go... I was in a hurry." He said, handing Rick the bird.
"Thanks, man."

After dinner was made, I met Rick's son; Carl and daughter; Judith. We sat down together and ate.
What Rick had eventually ended up making was spaghetti with chicken, peas and mushrooms all mixed together with mayonnaise.
It actually tasted rather amazing.
"So were you in a group before? Or has it always been just you and your brother?" Rick asked over food.
"We stayed with a couple of groups before, but nothing for more than a week or so. My brother never liked being around too many people. It made him uncomfortable. But whilst we were with people, we always paid our dues and helped in any way we could, as our own 'thank you'." I said, twirling some more spaghetti onto my fork.
Rick nodded. "Sounds like an okay way to travel. We've always found this world works better when you have numbers. But if your brother didn't like people as much as you're making out, it makes sense. No point having the numbers if not everyone's happy with it." Rick agreed.
I simply nodded, filling my mouth with the long, stringy pasta.

After dinner, Rick decided to throw together a little meeting, to introduce me to everyone.
Once everyone was by the front gate, Rick led me out.
"Now this is a little more formal than what we normally do around here for our new residents, but I think you have a good memory, despite recent events. Am I right?" Rick asked.
I nodded.
So one by one, we went round the crowd.
I met Daryl, once again, Michonne properly, Tara, Aaron, Bob, Rosita, Father Gabriel, Enid, Eric, Mikey, Kent, Barbara, Anna, and Rosemary, among others.

Once everyone had calmed down and gone back to whatever it was they were doing, Rick decided to sort me out a house to stay in.
We travelled a block away from Rick's house, where there sat a cute little house on the end of the street, looking about big enough for one person.
"Is this okay?"Rick asked.
"Perfect." I smiled, bouncing once on the ball of my foot.
"Alright then." He smiled back. "I'll have Daryl drop the rest of your things over in the morning. Do you have everything you need? There are fresh toiletries inside. Feel free to have a warm shower and everything."
"Thank you so much for this, Rick." I said, softly.
"It's no problem. You're more than welcome here. Everyone seemed to really like you."
"Well I like them too. I think I'm really going to like it here." I replied.
Rick nodded.
"Well I'm glad about that." He said.
"Goodnight." I whispered, kissing his cheek.
I pulled away and, despite the darkness, I could see a slight blush on his cheeks.
"Goodnight, Quinn."
