I woke up in some sort of room.
It was dark, only lit by a single candle on the opposite side of the room.
I sat up, my head spinning almost to the point of blacking out again.Beside me was a glass of water and a sandwich.
I picked up the water and gulped it down as fast as I could, spilling some over my clothes.
I wiped my mouth and picked up the sandwich plate when the door unlocked from the outside.
I looked around, shuffling to the furthest corner away from the door.
In came the tall, dark, curly-haired man.
"Would you like some more water?" He asked.
I was cautious. The man had locked me up, after all.
But I was desperate, I nodded.
It became apparent that someone else was there, because he took another glass of water from whoever it was.
He came into the room and knelt in front of me, handing me the water.
I grabbed it and drowned myself in it just as I had done with the first one before handing him back the glass.
"Michonne." The man softly said.
Out came a very dark skinned woman. She was awfully beautiful. He handed her the glass and she left again, offering me a small smile before disappearing.
"Are you alright? You took a pretty hard fall back there." He asked me.
I nodded.
He sighed. "You were very dehydrated. That's why you passed out on Daryl and I. Do you remember any of this?"
"Sorta..." I shrugged.
The man sat down on the cold, concrete floor, obviously meaning to stay and question me.
"Is it just you out there? Or is there someone else?" He asked.
I looked down.
"There used to be..." I said, sadly.
"I'm sorry..." He replied.
"It was my brother, Michael. He was 14. We got caught by a horde. We had a plan but it got broken up and he was bitten." I began to feel pricks in my eyes. I'd never been able to speak of these events to anyone, as there was no one to talk to. My next words sent me into fits of tears. "He shot himself so I wouldn't have to."
My body heaved as I cried harder than I had done in years. The man pulled me into a hug, shhing me and telling me it would be alright.
"I miss him so much." I cried as he rocked me back and forth.
"My son, Carl. He's not much older than your brother. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I lost him. But I can sympathise with you." He spoke quietly and softly, trying to calm me down.
I separated from him and wiped my face.
"I'm sorry. I haven't been able to talk to anyone since he died. I've been all on my own, just wondering." I sniffed.
"It's no problem. No one deserves to be alone. Especially not in this world. You can stay here. I just have some questions." He said.
I nodded.
"How many walkers have you killed?" He asked.
"Too many to count." I replied.
"How many people have you killed?"
"Two."
"Why?"
"I was protecting my brother. Our camp got ambushed in the night and they wouldn't leave. I gave them chances but in the end, I just pulled my trigger. It was us or them."
The man simply nodded.
"You can stay." He said. "Welcome to Alexandria."
